Don't tell me your taking Durant over this guy...get real

God damn 7-1 center has a vertical to the point where that ball is parallel to 3/4 up the damn backboard

Look at Green with the "I'm staring at his crotch and I'm not gay" realization

Not the number 1 pick...hah yeah right...even Walter H. is impressed

It's gonna be interesting to see how the team that wins the lottery decides between Oden and Durant. Oden was the no-questions-asked #1 pick going into this season, but Durant suddenly stormed the party and turned heads.

Durant is the kind of guy who can sell jerseys and sneakers like crazy, but Oden's the guy who can be the final piece to a team's championship puzzle. Imagine if the Knicks miss the playoffs, win the lottery, and their #1 pick goes to Chicago. Cavs would be in some serious trouble.

I just think Durant is the better player..he can handle the ball, pass, and shoot already as a big man.

Oden is dumb as a box of rocks, hasn't really shown any post moves and will take longer to develope.

Which player will be the better pro? Probably Oden with the right developement just because he plays center.

I think your associating "dumb as a box of rocks" with his reserved personality in his interviews...apparently he had a 3.7 in high school.

I know this argument has been rehashed a ton, but Tracy McGrady can pass, shoot, dribble, drive, and create better then Shaq or Hakeem ever could in their primes...who would you rather have playing on your team?

Durant is not really a big man either, he is a perimeter player with fantastic slashing skills and moderate post-up abilities. He will never dominate the interior in terms of rebounds or defense

No way I would pass up on a 7 footer who can be the face of my team and a dominating presence for years to come.

I could care less what his GPA is, that has nothing to do with what Im talking about.

On the court, he isn't the brightest person out there.

Yeah I'll give you that, he does make stupid plays sometimes...he is only 18, so he has a lot of room to grow in that regard

Let's also not forget that just being bigger and more athletic than everyone has been good enough for him to totally dominate, up until this year. Hell, even this year most of the time it's been good enough for him to dominate. He hasn't had to worry about playing smart, post up moves, having good defensive technique, and so on. I think it's less a case of him being dumb, and more a case of him being raw. All reports are the kid is quite bright.

Wow. How can you possibly pass on a guy who can be a shaq like player. Really? Name me 10 great centers. Then name me 10 great guards. That is why Oden goes first. Simply because finding a center that can actually play good is very rare.

He definitely goes #1 after tonight. Nationwide exposure, a great game, double-double, anyway you slice it he upped his rep 10X with this effort.

Dumb or not, he really guts it out too. He hustled all night, defending against 3 guys. That was a helluva game he played all around.

Durant pretty much said he wasn't coming out I thought.

Teams draft upon need, not best available in the NBA usually. I'd say it depends on what your team needs. Oden will not dominate with a team by himself. Durant probably could, a lot of people say he's the best player in 15 years. I don't really believe that, but it all depends on what the team's GM believes.

Oden is a once in a generation player. There is no question who goes first. If he stays relatively healthy he will dominate at the next level.
This is The Oden draft.

Whichever team gets him will be way better with Oden than without. He might not take them to the Finals, but he'll be an instant gate attraction and he'll get them a lot more wins than they had before. To a GM, that's a net gain.
