Offseason Rumors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Personally I can't see the Indians shelling out the cash it'd take to get Gordon.

Not a good fit at all, honestly.

How is he a bad fit? He's a plus defender, has a big name, might not find the market everyone expects, he is old, and Cleveland sports fans can find reasons to dismiss his signing. I see everything lining up!

He's going to get a long-term deal heading into his decline years, the Indians don't really have an alternative position for Brantley, he doesn't fit into a cleanup spot in the lineup or give it any better symmetry.

Plus the dollars won't make any sense for this club.

Royals probably wouldn't even want to retain him if he wasn't here from the start, but they will probably make him a lifer. Hopefully he doesn't ask too much because he isn't worth what he is getting paid right now.

Also, just wondering about your guys opinions, but how much will Cueto probably command per year? Probably way out of the Royals price range I'm assuming.

Way, way out.

Like 25-30 mil a year? Not even close to being worth that imo. But he is relatively young. A lot might hinge on his postseason performance this year.

When I was looking through the mlb salaries the other day, I was impressed with how low the Indians roster is salary wise. Even though you guys kind of have to be, still got a lot of talent for good price.

Someone is likely to regret the Cueto signing down the road, but I think you're right on the money with $25M+

I think someone would regret paying him that much too. He has been like the Royals worst starting pitcher that I've seen. He is starting to get it together again, but still. Similar last year with James Shields though, pretty much our worst pitcher in the playoffs.

Sorry to ask questions but I don't know much about mlb salaries. How much do you think David Price will get then? He is making a little over 7 mil right now and is a ufa, 30 years old. I think he is much better than Cueto. Stats seem to back it up too. Only problem is he hasn't won a game in the postseason. Well... I guess Cueto is about 30 too so maybe Price is in for a big pay day as well?

Going to be interesting to see how much Price and Greinke get from the Dodgers.

Enough for another NLDS elimination.
This was just year one of Andrew Friedman. I have to think he memes the offensive and coaching changes they need to take advantage of the boatload of talent they have.

Recent Deals to Consider:

Scherzer: 7/$210 M
Kershaw: 7/$180 M
Lester: 6/$155 M

Grienke will get the most, with Price and Cueto likely to get similar deals. I think Grienke will be the highest paid pitcher in the game.

How many teams can actually afford that? Especially with those deals already out there.
