Offseason Rumors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Davis is definitely intriguing to me- I wonder how his market will play out and if he finds a team to get stupid. I liked what I saw from him last year, he looked much more like the bat from 2012 and 2013. He certainly has Dunn potential but he has also hit for a much better acreage overall than Dunn ever did. I think if a team could do a 3 year deal at a fair per year I would love to add him. Adding him would free the team up to deal Santana since the last thing they need is a combo of those two at first. Problem is that he would cost a 1st rounder thanks to Titos epic failure by coaxing this team back to .500.

P.s. before we get any racist Hafner comparisons- just because both are large and Caucasian doesn't mean they will age the same- I don't know of any chronic ailment with Davis like Hadner's bad shoulder. And a vision issue could well have been the issue- Jhonny Peralta dealt with the same.

The Cubs already have built a contender. Adding a front of the rotation starter isn't suddenly going to make them a non-contender.

You're missing my point. I'm not saying the Cubs aren't contenders, I'm saying that it wasn't a big splash free agent signing that made them that way (and it won't be one that makes the Red Sox that way), it was building a team through the draft and trades.

So what do you guys (the Indians) need? I'm not completely familiar with your team, but it seems like you already have some good pitchers, and that is pretty crucial for the success of a team. Maybe a closer?

Do you just need some more bats and OF addition? I want to see you guys do well because I like it when teams that have struggled do well. It looks like you have had some really good seasons even relatively recently. But it can turn around fast. Royals have some talent, but other teams have way more. I swear 90% of the Royals success is because of chemistry and they execute a playstyle so well.

Hopefully this is the era where the small market teams take over.

1. At least one significant bat, likely at 3B, OF, or DH...two of the three if I'm being greedy.
2. One more reliable late-inning reliever (do you trust Shaw/McAllister/Manship in October?)
3. Staying healthy

1. Why not 1B? Put Santana at DH permanently. Let Johnson spot between 3B/1B/DH

2. I trust Manship....but I still think another RP (maybe a lefty?) would be nice.

3. Yes

Agreed on #1. As for Manship, I'm not taking away from his fantastic 2015, but his career numbers can't be ignored. We should expect at least moderate regression (and hope it won't be severe).

If anybody wants Cueto, you can have him. For free. Forget 20-30 million. So mentally soft.

Figured he would struggle switching leagues but not this bad.
I think the crowd rattled him. A good pitcher has that look on his face of determination and nothing can phase him. Cueto was the opposite, stupid smile on his face like he didn't even care. It almost looked like he was trying to sabotage us. Maybe it is just because he is not invested in the team at all and knows he is going to leave so who cares right?

Cueto was struggling with command going back to before the trade. He walked 6 Indians when he faced us 2 starts before the deal.

That is where the Blue Jays got the idea. And it worked twice. I'd argue giving up 9 runs through 3 innings is worse than dropping the ball and giving up a homer next pitch. Either way, every team has the formula to shake him now.

Except Jays chanted "We want Cueto" after they took him out, but that is just shameful. Can't have it both ways, just stick to the jeers. Clearly they think they can get him in free agency.

Just saw somewhere else where the Indians were one of the teams as a potential suitor for Daniel Murphy.

I didn't watch the game, but from description it sounds like they might have been saying it as in 'we want cueto (to stay in)' because they think he is that lousy they'd rather him continue pitching
