Ohio State VS Michigan State (10/1/11)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No, there was a better job..Florida. I just don't understand why a guy would leave a place where he was winning every year, had won two natl. titles in a short amount of time, to only then decide, you know what, I'm gonna coach again one year later. If he can be so easily persuaded to coach again in such a short amount of time, why did he quit in the first place?

Oh yeah I forgot, you're that one douche. OSU is a much better college football job than Florida, and I don't even feel like debating it with you because you are a giant douche.

Seriously, they're not really in the same league.

Florida has to split that state and the south in a number of different ways, while Ohio State has the area, history and fanbase which puts it head and shoulders above most others in the nation.

I mean, they often times might not be the better team than Florida....but in terms of a job, it's not even close.

And if you can't understand the difference...You probably aren't smart enough to debate it anyway.

Made the obvious mistake of noting that there might be better college football jobs out there than Ohio State on this site. Listen, this time next year when Urban Meyer isn't the coach and is still in the booth, I'll be ready to accept the apology, cause I'm sure it's forthcoming. I mean, I just love the idiotic hostility that comes from some of you. I say Florida is a better program (and right now, it is....) without any insult to anyone, and am immediately called a douche. Good decision.

Oh, and I'm still waiting for old bushwick to pay up on our bet. Hit me up anytime with your pay-pal account.

This is interesting. What "area" does Ohio State have that Florida doesn't? Are there more talented highschool football players in Florida than there are in Ohio? Yes. Seems to me that the "area" question..whatever that is, isn't settled.

And I honestly never understood how history, at least long ago history, mattered when it came to a college football job. I mean, Notre Dame and Miami have more "history" than Ohio State...but does that make them better jobs? Not really. It's about what team attracts the best talent right now. And right now, Florida attracts more talent than Ohio State.

Oh jeez Rich....

Looks like OSU has some more trouble steming from turning a blind eye last December... I really hope we get rid of Gene Smith...

Yes, but apparently it will take nothing short of a dead body to come rolling out of the man's car in order to fire him.

Florida has to split their area about 10 different ways, which levels the playing field.

I thought that one was obvious?

No?

Well...OK then.

Anyway, if history can't be used as a barometer...Florida's 7-5 season last year would lead me to believe their on the decline.

It's interesting that while he was in his office smoking a big cuban cigar insulting "little sisters of the poor" schools, he sadly let his own school become one.

Bravo, Gordon Gee.

There are few better coaching jobs than Ohio State. Florida is definitely not one of them.

Why do some people refuse to admit that Ohio State is a top 10, if not top 5 college football school?

I'd go so far as to say that OSU is one of the 3 most premier jobs in all of college football.

Texas/Ohio State/Michigan/Notre Dame.

All schools that can, at any point, be considered the best job in college football.

Not so much Notre Dame anymore. Probably remove them and replace with Alabama. Got to think USC is near the top too.

Bauserman sucks, Fickell sucks, and as of right now, Miller sucks.

Blame the play-calling all you want, but that doesn't explain why neither Miller nor Bauserman can actually throw a fucking spiral. it's pathetic watching those ducks in the air from those two guys.

Oh, and don't get your hopes up for Urban Meyer. First of all, it seems nearly impossible to get these big name coaches out of the television booth, especially in football. Anyone see Cowher on the sidelines? What about Gruden? Miami fans had themselves convinced that it was 100% done deal that Gruden was going to coach there. Just don't be like them.

1. I agree with you about Fickell. I know its only a month into the season but Im really hoping OSU can get a big time coach. Im really not a fan of waiting on Fickell to develop as the guy. Im hoping he is just a stop-gap. As for Bauserman/Miller, definitely underwhelming.

2. Gruden has been linked to just about every head coaching job there. As for Cowher, like Gruden, I think both are going to ride out their commentating careers until the right coaching oppurtunity comes around. It's foolish to think they will never coach again, especially Gruden. One of the main reasons Cowher didn't take a new job was to take of his wife that had cancer.

3. As for Meyer, im not getting my hopes up that he coaches OSU one day. But to suggest Florida is superior to OSU, is just wrong. That or you are looking for a reaction to piss everyone off. Im an OSU fan, not as a diehard as most here, but if you think Florida is superior, than you don't know a lot of about college football. They are definitely ahead of OSU in terms of competitve play right now. But through out the course of history, there aren't many ahead of OSU. As already mentioned, OSU is easily top 3-5 when it comes down to it.
