Peyton Hillis is Jason Bourne

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Peyton Hillis contract saga

The price for franchising a RB is pretty high, I think it's roughly 8 million to do so. I'm not sure anyone is going to want to pay him that after the season he's had thus far.

Speaking of franchise tags, I was listening to 92.3 (not for enjoyment or anything, I applied for a job there) and some numbskull called in from Baltimore talking shit. Anyway one of his biggest "insults" was that the Browns franchised a kicker. He then went on to say, "I don't know if anyone in the history of the NFL has franchised a kicker, it's pathetic."

The worst part, the hosts agreed with him. I think it was the Fox and the Bull, anyway they were agreeing with this schmuck. It was driving me nuts for 2 reasons, first it's Dawson, second I can think of 2 franchised kickers in the last 2 years from teams other than the Browns (Reed and Mare). I honestly can't believe the quality of sports talk we have in this town.

For the casual (dumb) fan, the term "franchise tag" makes it seem like it's something you apply to your franchise players...I've heard so many people make fun of the Browns using the "you franchised your KICKER!" line, but I've given up correcting their dumbassery because they're hopeless fucks who won't listen anyway.

My pet peeve is someone who doesn't know sports trying to talk sports. I'd rather you try and impress me talking about something you know/like than something you know I know/like.

Re: Peyton Hillis contract saga

Well now that Hillis has come back and has proven he isn't faking injuries, what do we do with him?

He isn't staying in Cleveland. That ship has sailed.

Why? Because Cleveland fans and media turned his situation into a completely overblown soap opera?

I sure as hell hope they can sign him to a fair contract. The last thing we need is to fill ANOTHER hole on this offense.

1) He hates the Browns now and his teammates think he is a diva. 2) Running backs aren't worth mutli-year contracts which he will demand. 3) He hasn't had a 100 yard rushing game in almost a year.......We need to worry more about WR's and a QB. Running backs are a dime a dozen (see Peyton Hillis).

Re: Peyton Hillis contract saga

Welp, that's that I guess.

Stop trying to make me into the new Doug. I know you're bored because he isn't here to her the derp with you but I've got better things to do.

Well that's certainly debatable.

1) he will like whoever will pay him the most and let him play
2) he might demand a multi-year contract worth a lot but no way in hell anyone is paying it
3) see point 1 and 2.

you see this all the time. a player will demand a huge contract from his current team the year before contract, then he sucks ass and no one is willing to pay him what he wants and the only team with a starting spot for him is his old team who needs him and is willing to pay him a little bit more than everyone else. then the player returns to his old team.

at this point i would be shocked if hillis doesnt come back to the browns on a 1 year incentive laden contract like grady is for the indians

To be fair you've taken to using some Dougisms lately, so I can see why b00bie mistook the two of you.

Did they? The day before he was sick with strep, he was sitting at Chiili's in North Olmsted bar. The browns reportedly offered him 3 years for 15M sometime. Fast forward a few weeks later. He was standing around throwing a football and kicking it around in San Francisco. Then claimed he couldn't play because he was hurt. The vets sat him down and talked to him. He rode the media bus back. You tell me there's no disconnect from him and his teammates.

I sure as hell hope they can sign him to a fair contract. The last thing we need is to fill ANOTHER hole on this offense.

They offered him a fair deal 3 years 15M (4 M guaranteed) and he turned it down. He's not Frank Gore and after this year I'd lower the offer.

...................? I'll take your word for it.

Re: Peyton Hillis contract saga

Prior to the injury, Forte was attempting to negotiate a long-term extension with the team. According to sources, Forte had turned down a deal worth between $13 million and $14 million.

But the team didn't respond with a more lucrative offer, and the sides hadn't been able to agree to a new deal, and thus mutually decided to suspend contract negotiations.

I wonder what Hillis is thinking now. He turned down a similar deal and might be screwed too...
