Re: Peyton Hillis contract saga
For the casual (dumb) fan, the term "franchise tag" makes it seem like it's something you apply to your franchise players...I've heard so many people make fun of the Browns using the "you franchised your KICKER!" line, but I've given up correcting their dumbassery because they're hopeless fucks who won't listen anyway.
My pet peeve is someone who doesn't know sports trying to talk sports. I'd rather you try and impress me talking about something you know/like than something you know I know/like.
The price for franchising a RB is pretty high, I think it's roughly 8 million to do so. I'm not sure anyone is going to want to pay him that after the season he's had thus far.
Speaking of franchise tags, I was listening to 92.3 (not for enjoyment or anything, I applied for a job there) and some numbskull called in from Baltimore talking shit. Anyway one of his biggest "insults" was that the Browns franchised a kicker. He then went on to say, "I don't know if anyone in the history of the NFL has franchised a kicker, it's pathetic."
The worst part, the hosts agreed with him. I think it was the Fox and the Bull, anyway they were agreeing with this schmuck. It was driving me nuts for 2 reasons, first it's Dawson, second I can think of 2 franchised kickers in the last 2 years from teams other than the Browns (Reed and Mare). I honestly can't believe the quality of sports talk we have in this town.
