Honestly I'm surprised to see so much griping about the refs in here. Outside of the first round (which was just terrible) I've seen refs who consistently allow bumping and light contact, and haven't been over zealous to call the flop. As a result, we're being treated to teams actually attempting to play true vertical defense for the first time in at least 5 years.

After watching the flop feat that was Heat vs. Pacers and then Heat vs. San Antonio, it's a huge breath of full air. I'm not sure I'd be enjoying this run as much if Mozgov fell back 10 feet when Teague bumped him in the lane to draw a foul.

I think the refs are also doing a phenomenal job of calling the games fairly. They get calls wrong on occasion, but never favoring on team or the other to heavily IMO.

Has the decreased calls and this increased physicality contributed to the increase in post season injuries? Perhaps, but I hope the NBA keeps this up; it's infinitely better basketball.

I counted 19-2 calls in favor of atlanta in the second half alone last night and I was very very fair

Complaining about the refs is childish. You've got a ton of Atlanta fans on RealGM bitching about the refs allegedly helping the Cavs and here on RCF you've got Cavs fans whining about the officiating, as well. Refs occasionally make mistakes. This is nothing new, as they're only human. I just hate hearing people blaming losses (this goes more for Atlanta fans seeing that we won yesterday) on the refs.

please dont make me cut up the game and show you how many times delly got punched in the face, false goaltending, 4 calls on cavs where there wasnt any contact whatsoever, the clock not starting on time giving the hawks another 2 points etc etc etc etc.

you dont see the pattern of cavs always, ALWAYS being on the shit end of the calls? this is big stuff dude. every call is worth a point. it was 17 calls in the second half alone.

Refs were an atrocity all around last night. Probably the worst officiated game with the Cavs I've seen in months. And that is really saying something...

After JR's performance, the only thing that stands out to me from last night's game is the refs. Truly sad.

Honestly Boston Game 4 is still the worse officiated game for me.

remember the last 5 minutes of the bulls game when lebron hit the buzzer beater?

that was the most condensed butt fuckery ive ever seen. but theyve all been about equal.

refs are giving the opponent almost a point a minute.

The play where Carroll hyperextended his knee is a great example of how bad the refs were. Carroll plants his leg, has it bend the wrong direction and collapses. No one touches him. He tosses the ball up in desperation and the ref blows the whistle. LeBron brushed up against him after the whistle, but it wasn't enough contact to call a foul in a legitimate manner and they called the foul on Shumpert who, like I said, didn't touch him.

Teague probably committed 5 travels; bad, dragging his pivot foot 2+ feet travels, and he got away with all of them. The play directly after LeBron dunked was an egregious travel by Teague (LeBron traveled on the dunk, too, but it was virtually impossible to spot in real time, I made an imgur gallery showing still frames of both).

Just looking at Teague's travels and LeBron getting hacked and you've got a 15 point swing, if not more. Obviously there were moving screens that weren't called and both teams committed them, the Cavs got away with contact inside (not nearly as much as the Hawks did, though), etc. The game was poorly officiated, but I don't know how anyone could watch it and think the Cavs got the better end of the deal. The Hawks are the worst team in the playoffs at getting FTs and the Cavs are no where close to being that, yet the Hawks shot twice as many FTs if you discount intentional fouls at the end.

Complaining about the refs is recognizing that change is necessary in this league.

If the objective is to get the calls right, and the NBA now has this massive facility for that purpose, then we should do everything possible to make sure officiating has no effect on the outcome of a game.

We need instant replay.

I have no problem with putting in a new system to make sure more calls are made correctly, but I just hate when people continue to act like the refs have it out for their team. People don't realize that these plays happen very fast and in real time; it's hard for the refs to make the correct decision. Being only human, it's not difficult to see why they miss a few calls, and I don't think these missed calls only against the Cavs either.

I rely, really dislike the oPinion that these are all coincidental mistakes

Joey Crawford is doing tonight's game. Not expecting any help there. He was pretty terrible in the one Bulls game he reffed. That was the game Dunleavy and Niko kept getting BS calls while LeBron and Kyrie were getting worked inside without getting any calls. That game also had 2 incorrect calls on the ref review that both helped Chicago.

Joey Crawford hates LeBron. Despite incarceratedbob thinking that LeBron has a great record with Crawford reffing, it is actually worse than his record without Crawford. Here's an article on that.

I wonder why the NBA is being so slow with the last two minute reports all of a sudden. Pretty sure our last game should have one (I believe it was a 4 point game with about a minute left), and I was interested in the Houston/Golden State report as well which should have been up by 5pm today.

Soak this shit in right now.

"Live ball physical taunt."

Jesus Almighty. That's............woooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Taunted him by hitting his knee with his head. That's an honest response from Ken Mauer.

My god if these Refs don't get reprimanded for that bullshit. When you mess up a call, you had sure as shit better come up with a more decent lie than this one.
