post 121 - OJ Mayo UFA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Alex Kennedy‏@AlexKennedyNBA

Boston was zeroing in on O.J. Mayo, but he wanted more than the mid-level exception. Celtics couldn't afford Mayo so Jason Terry was Plan B.

.

i think some of these guys think they are way better than they are...the market is getting way sketchy with guys like Dragic and Mayo trotting around asking for All-Star money....Hibbert on the other hand I think felt surprised by the offer but how could you say no

I am not surprised by the Hibbert offer. Portland doing a good job at refurbish that roster. With Hibbert, Aldrigdge, Mathews, they will compete. If they keep Batum, and replace Felton, they will be a force. Thier only remaining hole is at point. They are clearly letting Felton walk, and apparently are not interested in Flynn. I am wondering if they try to is a vet like Andre Miller, or if they are thinking Nolan Smith and Lillard is good enough? That team, with a decent playmaker guard, is going To make some noise in the West.

OJ wants to get paid.
He turned down the full MLE from Boston
Mini-MLE from Miami isn't going to fly.
Looks like his options are now going to be Dallas, Atlanta and Indy. Maybe Orlando or Houston
He'll likely get a deal when 1 team misses thier primary target.
But he needs to change his mentality from wanting to be the man to being a role player.
Maybe he does and revives his career, maybe he doesn't and floats around.

Sessions? :)

when I think of busts I think Ryan Leaf, Darko etc.. not OJ Mayo, I think disappointment sure but hardly bust
when someone is drafted in the top 3 and is a fringe starter in the league....that's way more than just a disappointment. a player drafted a bit later in the lottery, sure, that's a disappointment. but in the top 3??

which reminds me, how badly did minnesota crush that draft day trade? gave up a mediocre sg and ended up with one of the best pf's in the game. sick.
You Americans and your obsession with mayonnaise !!! Get down and give me 50 !
was talking about orange juice, actually!!

The Indiana Pacers have expressed interest in unrestricted free agent O.J. Mayo, according to sources close to the situation.

Consider me shocked.

Indiana has tried to trade for him the past two years and couldn't get it done because of various issues.

To me, a bust in Basketball is much different than a Bust in football. OJ Mayo is the definition of a bust, dude is just not very good yet has a role in the NBA. Unfortunately, what he thinks his role is and what teams and fans think his role should be are very different.

orange juice does not go down well with mayonnaise

The latest from Ric Bucher is that it is likely that NOH will not only match for Gordon but keep him, despite his current disinterest in them. This may leave Phoenix to go for Mayo or Courtney Lee. Boston and Indiana are still interested in Mayo as well and that the offers for Mayo will essentially come in after Gordon is off the market.

Nothing groundbreaking or pertinent to us, but I need a break from listening to the Dwight/Bynum Safari going on in Cavs Talk.
