post 121 - OJ Mayo UFA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
-- While we're on the subject of trades, there are rumors the Cavs have interest in Grizzlies shooting guard O.J. Mayo. Scratch that from your list of trade rumors. It's not happening... The Cavs had a sharp decline in player salaries in 2010-11. That allowed them to reap $33 million in profit, according to a report in Forbes.com.

-- Hornets shooting guard Eric Gordon reportedly turned down a four-year extension this week. He'll be a restricted free agent after the season. He's a player the Cavs could have interest in during free agency. He's going to get a max contract.

Bob Finnan

Perhaps if Eric Gordon were to agree to an extension (sign & trade), the Cavs and Hornets may be able to come to some agreement... one that would probably include Antawn Jamison & the Sacramento pick or one of the Miami picks.

You realize the Hornets aren't in Charlotte anymore, correct?

That Finna report was from early february. its been a whole 30 days! things can change !

but if MNayo is expecting more than the 7 million of his first qualifying offer. forget it.

1. Finnan still covers the cavs!?

2. Finnan making the point that we wouldn't grab Mayo because we want to keep payroll down, and then suggesting we might offer Gordon a max contract, seems kind of contradictory.

3. Why is heath still allowed to post shitty trade ideas on this site?

yeah right Finnan we would be interested in Eric Gordonwho is interested in along term max deal but not interested in OJ mayo

how much sense does that make?

I would take Mayo over Gordon just because of Gordon's injuries and small size.

Maybe finnan is saying the cavs dont really distinguihsh a difference between 8-10 million compare d to 10-13 . so if they gonna spend they gonna go all the way. Gordon is a better player than mayo

Would rather trade Sessions (who we'll lose anyway) for Mayo and then overpay Mayo than give Eric Gordon, who has missed at least 20 games each year, a max contract.

I've seen Heath mentioned a lot lately. If so, he's making a Voldermort like comeback.

I agree with ClevelanRocks, ill take Mayo over Gordons injury history. No, "he could stay healthy" bs. He's hurt way too much to be our second fiddle.

Mayo will be there in the off season. Memphis can't afford to keep him, and I'm not so sure Pacers even need a SG anymore.
As I've stated a million times, he would be great in our system, with Byron to push him to levels beyond a regular Sayin and help us defeat the evil in the league.

1. Yes, yes he does

2. Seems more than contradictorily.

3. Only for entertainment purposes.

I had a list of champion teams where Key players spent a portion of the season injured or not on the team at all. It wasnt really necessary though.

which player is going to win you more playoff series. To me thats Eric gordon and therefore the better option.

Oj on the other the hand hasnt proven to exactly being a high character guy. He also hasnt been able to secure a starting spot over tony Allen nor Xavier Henry.
so if the cavs are gonna spend over 8 million on a guard. it should be one they know will start.

On the other hand people can grow up and if Mayo has matured perhaps he is a good option B. I can completely see though why the Cavs would do a complete pass on Mayo while showing interest in a max contract for Gordon

Oj Mayo is a guy with immense talent and just needs a change of scenery and a coach that knows how to coach and a passionate fan base that will push him to be good

players living by their name:

beasley
mayo

which overrated player will be suggested next???
