That is different. I don't know if I have seen one that is 4 separate screens. Usually, they are connected in some way. It looks kind of weird to me.

Are the players going to be able to see the scoreboard if they look up? I know they sometimes rely on those things for replay.

No LeBron Bobblehead? :cwm13:

The fact it's First Energy for Kevin Love's probably means it'll be a UCLA alternate and not Wes

Lack of bobbleheads this year seems off

They dont need gimmicks to get people to the stadium like the last 4 years haha.

The new scoreboard is amazing. The pictures don't do it justice. The quality is unbelievable.

From being at the game here is my take on the technology...

Board is HUGE! I mean absolutely gigantic. I've never seen anything like it. Picture quality is absurdly good. They had an issue at halftime thru the 3rd Q where the bottom right quadrant was blacked out. Not sure if it was on the other 3 sides but the side I was on was inoperable in that area. They fixed it a bit and the glitch moved to the bottom left and only took a small space, nothing that was important.

The floor graphics are impressive. Really fun to watch.

The sound system had a lot of trouble. I don't know what the story was but the PA and any in game entertainment sounded muffled and was extremely hard to understand.

There is information all over the place but no where are players fouls displayed. I thought I heard Carmelo had 5 fouls midway thru the 4th quarter but I couldn't confirm it at the game because no where is that stat displayed.

Anyone else at the game have comments?

I was on an end, so the board wasn't as huge for me, but it was still really nice quality and large. Walking by the other entrances, all you can see is Humungotron, it's crazy.

Also, I had been hearing that the 3D projections only work at one angle, and that is apparently bullshit because I was on one of the ends and they seemed pretty clear and cool to me.

Overall, in-game experience was pretty great. Showing the celebs was fun, Kevin Hart got covered up by an awkward lady. Unfortunately, I feel like there is too much noise produced by the arena crew to keep the place loud all the time, but I suppose that's where the NBA has been at for years.

Agreed with Phills14 and Akronite. The gigantic-a-tron is freakin' gigantic! Really amazing. Like Akronite said, just walking through the concourse you see the screen through the entrances... and it's like "HOLY S HIT! Look how big that F'in screen is!

I also agree with the sound issues. The in-game announcements were very hard to hear, but the other stuff was fine. They need to tweak it.

As an aside, the glowing light sabers and the bags of confetti to throw when LeBron threw the powder were really really cool visuals. And the opening NIKE commercial thing with the streets filled with people doing the huddle shimmey was really well done. And I gotta say, when the Cavs came out onto the floor and when LBJ was introduced... it was deafening in there! I don't think there was any audio enhancements at those points... it was borderline hurt your ears deafeningly loud. The crowd brought it.... until later in the game when the team obviously showed they have a good deal of work to do!

Also funny was the celeb shots. Justin Beiber got absolutely raked over the coals when they showed him... almost felt bad for the kid. He got almost as big a boo as the Knicks did. And EVERYONE cracked up when they zoomed to Geraldo Rivera. Everyone recognized him, but they all probably said what I said to my friend... "Haha... Geraldo? I thought he was dead?"

Big winner and looked a little surprised and pleased with the crowd response.... Bernie Kosar. BIG cheer for him and he looked really appreciative of it. Joe Haden got a big response too.

Oh, and Mr Usher sang the national anthem.... way not loud enough and too "dramatic" in the typical way star singers try to sing the tough song (just sing the d amn song strong and quit trying to add fancy flourishes to it), but the crowd was pretty raucous during the song, and near the end completely drowned him out when the crowd sang out the last few verses. The crowd version was awesome, appropriate, and blew Usher off the floor. At the end, he looked sheepish or bemused or maybe a little irritated... not sure, but even with a state-of-the-art sound system, he got blown out by us!

The stats were on those additional triangular screens that were installed around the building by the loudville. I think 2 screens side by side on each corner.

Couple other things, by 3pm the Horseshoe was packed. Gilbert made a killing. The outside experience was epic. If there were 20,000 in the Q, there was easily another 20,000 outside. And it was really well done outside too. All sorts of coverage, news crews, helicopters, people flying camera drones off the parking decks, sourounding roof decks filled with people watching... it was a HUGE block party and very electric.

Part of the give-aways were the confetti, light stick, poster and t-shirt. They were really grilling people hard on the big screen to put on the Key Bank t shirt... even if you already had Cavs gear on. I'd say 70-80% of people had gear on, but if you didn't, they kept the camera on you for quite a while until you pulled on the shirt.

Also, with the celebrity sighting thing, can't remember who they zoomed on, but was that a Kardashian sitting to the right of the celeb in focus? If so, they never came back to her for her own jumbotron focus. They also did not zoom on Gilbert... which I thought was odd. I think he would've gotten a fair share of applause too, and deservidly so. They also need more maps in the joint... so you can see where the escalators and elevators are, and how to get to the various walkways.
