Tried watching Eraserhead.

It's really rare I just flat out can't handle watching a movie. This one was too much.

The sound effects, the music, the surrealism and symbolism...it was the most disturbing and depressing movie I've ever watched. It bothered me more than A Serbian Film (stupid torture porn), Martyrs (better torture porn) and Requiem for a Dream (great) and the problem is...I can't really even describe why. It made me feel unsettled in a similar way to what Freaks does, but it was just much more overwhelming. Heavy and opressive are the best words I can come up with to describe it.

I recognize what's considered great about it, but I'd never watch it again.

And with that said, I honestly have no idea what to rate it. It was truly a 0/10 in terms of value that it provided to me, but based on how effective it was at doing what (I assume) it set out to do, I guess I'd give it an 8.

A movie that had the same effect on me was Begotten. Short, B&W. Really made me feel some sort of way a few days after watching it back in college.

Jigs,
You report on the movie has intrigued me to watch it.

I'm interested to see what I take from the movie. This good be a bad decision on my part. But if I recall, you did say Memento was great, and it was not. I still haven't forgiven you for that one.

Kosis,

I heard Raid 2 is good as well, it's on my to watch list, as well... (It's kind of an assignment) -- I'll eventually get to it. I mistakenly started the movie late, and didn't realize that it was a subtitle movie-- I was tired, but made it through.

Any recommendations for the best HD streaming sites for movies?

Eraserhead is pretty shallow. Lynchs wife was pregnant and he made a movie about what a burden it was to him. The kid is an adult now. It should be judged artistically, where it succeeded. Just a writer who used what was around him that provoked emotion and did a good job at executing what he wanted

The purge was a great concept and they did fuck all with it. Rather than a world or town under attack, they chose to follow a shitty, dumb family and constricted itself to one household.

Dave, we had this conversation like a week ago

Saw transformers the other week. Was awesome I thought. 4/5 stars

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - 4/10.

What can I say? The movie is fucking boring? Hmm.. what else? Characters are stoic and have literally zero development whatsoever from the start of the film to the end? This movie seems more like the Land Before Time than a mature science fiction movie?

In fact, what science is there in this entire movie other than the back story? The virus that creates the setting serves as nothing more than a plot device used in some future prequel; it has almost no bearing on this film and is only mentioned in passing in all of 2 scenes outside of the opening credits. I thought the concept of a "Simian Flu" was a brilliant way to send man back into the stone age, but then they went and fucked it all up by having so many people who were so easily and readily genetically immune.

The plot was beyond fucking stupid. Somehow they could restart a major hydroelectrical plant, but for whatever reason they couldn't burn fossil fuels? With 99% of the population literally wiped out, there would be an abundance of free and refined fuel available for use. The need for a hydroelectric plant makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. It's ridiculous!! There should be over 1 million abandoned cars in San Francisco alone. There would be millions upon millions of barrels of refined fuel that would take relatively little effort to locate and obtain; especially for a group that can refit a fucking hydroelectric power plant!

To that end, the horribly obvious deus ex machina with this God damned ham-radio. That's the entire point of Gary Oldman's character. Is to juice up a ham radio. So they needed several megawatts to talk to an Army base that was within 2-4 hours drive from them. Understand that the entire conflict hinges on this singular absurd point.

We gotta get this radio working, okay, we need a hydroelectric power plant to generate enough power even though we have all the gasoline, coal, natural gas, and wind in all of San Francisco at our disposal. What??? But nevermind that, we got it working now, so we contacted an Army base a few hundred miles away. But, no.. now we're dead, so it didn't matter to begin with. Ughhh.......!!

This movie should have been about the fall of man, but instead that was done in the opening credits. Now we just have to fill in the blanks. Caesar could have been actively involved as a guerrilla fighter (pun intended) working to protect his tribe from the insane and desperate hordes of humans fighting for survival. Instead, we got Land Before Time, Lion King, and God only knows what else all wrapped into one with the simplest of stories that is not only completely predictable from the very first 10 minutes of the movie (seriously) but totally uninteresting and frankly boring.

This movie is not worth seeing. I almost fell asleep twice it was so lame. I love sci-fi, and I liked the previous film in the series; but this was just plain awful. Critically-acclaimed my ass, this movie sucks.

I don't know why you keep saying this.

I'm one of very few people that think Memento is over-rated and would have never told someone to watch it.

Think she might be confusing what you and I said. I recall we had that conversation in this thread. I actually love Momento (8.5/10) and it's one of the few movies, other than comedies in general, that I know you and I differ on completely.

But I'm a big Nolan fan, other than TDKR. In fact, I give Inception a perfect score (10/10).

Saw transformers it's right up there with revenge of the saline for utter piss. Annoyed by how misrepresented the film is by its marketing, how slow it is in places, how badly it deals with key parts of transformer law and every actor especially the boyfriend whose accent changes in every scene

0/5

To all the people who saw Transformers and hated it but did not see Edge Of Tomorrow- You are missing an opportunity to watch a really good scifi movie with a good story line.

I wish i was in my early teens so I can enjoy those Transformer movies again.
