As soon as I saw Megan Fox as April O'Neil and Tony Shaloub as Shredder, I shed a single tear and refused to watch this movie.

Tony Shaloub was actually Splinter. Because I loved Monk, I didn't mind it.

And Megan Fox was one of the least objectionable things in the movie. Which is pretty telling.

Watched "About Time" with my girl tonight. I was surprised by how good it was. Awesome performance by Domhnall Gleeson, and Rachel McAdams did great as well. Good redbox movie with a really interesting concept. 8/10.

Congratulations.

You just watched a chick flick.

I need horror movie recommendations for tonight... I've seen MOST movies out there, something that's on Netflix/Hulu or that has been released on DVD... Anything, but has to be scary.. Not scary funny.. but genuinely unnerving. I just watched "The Returned" again, it wasn't that bad, but the ending was so predictable.

Don't know if I would call it a "horror" movie but if you haven't seen The Strangers. Scared the living shit out of my girlfriend. Especially b/c we live out in the country so there's just open spaces/trees/corn fields.

If it's just for you, not real sure. Just watched Insidious 2 on Netflix not long ago and it was fucking dumb. I would stay away.

Seen "The Strangers.." I live out in the country to, but my problem is that the movie is unoriginal. It's been done at least 4 times in recent memory, so when I watched it I was like "well, why'd they make this movie?" But considering it is an independent film and well done at that, then I give them props.

A better independent film, that is far more gritty and far more interesting is "Eden Lake." If you thought "The Strangers" was hardcore, watch the infinitely better "Eden Lake..." Holy fucking shit!

"I Saw the Devil" was mentioned earlier... Yes, I've seen it.. I wanted to take a minute to explain why I dislike these kinds of films. Often, in Asian movies, they go way over the top.. "I Saw the Devil" is just way over the top; to the point of being ridiculous. I love foreign films, but often times, since there is a language barrier they get a pass for having some very obviously bad aspects. "I Saw the Devil" is definitely one of these movies... as was "Grandmaster" which I saw recently (how fucking boring was this movie?).

"Insidious 2" was ass... and this is coming from someone who absolutely loved the first Insidious. I consider the first film a masterpiece in horror, up there with the best of the best in the genre. The second movie was just such an abomination. If you liked Insidious though, I'd recommend "The Conjuring," "Oculus," and "Sinister." Sinister was decent enough; although the foreshadowing of the end was done too early and the way the plot unfolds is unfortunately a bit too deus ex machina for me (the cell phone... why did he not answer his phone???).

Just everyone watch these clips and need feedback. Can't find the section in full and the movie jumps around so I had to piece it together:

Movie terrified me as a child.. It's the best of the Alien Abduction genre and has not been topped since.

Close Encounters of the Third Kind probably wouldn't qualify as an abduction film per se, but as far as alien related movies...that's gotta be the best. Absolutely incredible movie, if you can excuse the horrible technology of the time.

For abductions, yes...this one wins. That movie terrifies me only slightly less than when I was a kid.

I used to have to go through nightly rituals to prevent myself from being abducted after seeing this. Swear to God.

:chuckles: Same here man.. If I woke up and saw a small cut on my arm that I hadn't noticed before or some shit, I was like "fucking bastards... got me again." I think we're about the exact same age, so I'll excuse it to youthful imaginations... :chuckles:

Congratulations.

You just watched a chick flick.

Have you seen this movie? I know you fuck around a lot but I think you would enjoy it. It's a lot more than a chick flick and I think you would be able to appreciate the bigger aspects of the movie.

I'm 31 and I do think we're within a year or two. I used to have a trundle bed when I was a kid, and I would pile the blankets up on the regular bed so it looked like a person was in it and sleep inside the trundle bed to increase the chances that the aliens would abduct blankets rather than me. There was one time I distinctly remember that a very low hanging cloud was hanging around in plain view of my bedroom window when I woke up and the way the moon was reflecting through it and the street light was shining into the window, to me it was almost definitely a UFO. Even when the thing was gone 10-15 minutes later, I was still in a panic because it was already in my head.

Is a love story the primary feature of the movie? If so...I'm not interested. I'll accept ancillary love stories, but if the action functions primarily around a love story...do not want.

Braveheart was about as much of a love story as I can handle.

What's wrong with a love story? Sure, I rather gouge my eyes out than watch movies like The Notebook, PS I Love You, etc, etc, but those are usually so cliche, that they're basically all the same.

If the story aspect is good, unique, riveting, with captivating characters that's not overly sappy, no shame in watching it.

I can proudly say I've watched a few movies centered around the theme of love, and they're among my all-time favorites.

I'm 31 as well, and you went too far! :chuckles:

Anytime I made a pile of clothes to act as another person in bed, it was because I was about to fuck that pile of clothes.

I actually love a GOOD romance film if the movie is interesting on other levels.. Great Expectations, Eternal Sunshine of a Spotless Mind are good love stories.
