I thought the first half of the movie was great and then it kind of dragged until the end.I saw Gravity a few days ago. I remember all of this talk about how fantastic it was supposed to be. I can't recall if there were also Oscar nominations or not, but I felt it was very lack luster. The only thing that I liked was the re-entry back into Earth's atmosphere, that looked amazing. I have nothing against George Clooney or Sandra Bullock, but the movie really wasn't anything worthy of what it was made out to be.
Simmy, good luck watching a Michael Bay film.

I'm catching the new Ninja Turtles movie tomorrow night. Anyone seen it yet? Thoughts?
Let me know what you thought of it ? Was it like Transformers 3 ?
I didn't see Transformers 3 but I actually really liked TMNT. A good balance between classic references and pop culture contemporary comedy. Felt that it was just the right balance between realism and "there's 4 ninja fighting turtles roaming the streets of New York."
And the cinematography and special effects were quite impressive as well. Obviously you need to appreciate "fun," light-hearted films as well - it's not something for the artistic film cynical critic - but it's a decent nights entertainment.
If I had seen this movie on regular HDTV I wouldn't marvel at it like I did in the theater. It was the only movie other than Jurassic Park that made me feel I was on a ride and it was to be experienced rather than critiqued.
Really was a once in a 20 year movie when it comes to that. It probably also helped that I skydive every few years and the realistic visuals really took me back to those feelings of jumping out of plane. The scenes of her repairing circuit boards nervously reminded me of stepping to the edge of a plane door preparing for a jump.
These types of movies are their own genre and they aren't meant to be experienced on the small screen. I hope once Occulus and Morpheus drop that movie studios dedicate movies like Gravity specifically for these devices. I cannot wait, so much potential.
