This is a pretty nice summary of the current status: http://ohiostate.scout.com/2/585372.html

With the Buckeyes looking to add 8 or 9 more kids to next year's class, here's who I'd like to see:

RB John Clay
WR Leonard Hankerson
TE Gronkowski
OT Anthony Davis
C Kris O'Dowd
DE Ben Martin
DE Martez Wilson (but would settle for Solomon Thomas ;) )
DT Devon Still
DT Joseph Barksdale (but would settle for Josh Brent ;) )

Some honorable mentions who I couldn't see turning away even if the Buckeyes already had 9:
CB Eric Berry (top CB in the country)
CB Ronald Johnson (#2 CB in the country, plus it's always nice to steal Michigan's top player)

Hmmm, Bucknuts is saying OSU needs another WR in this class, but why? They already have 2. I'm of the opinion that you can never have too many linemen, and with the need at DT, I'd probably drop Hankerson from the above list, and take all three stud DTs (Still, Barksdale, and Brent). I'd probably take Thomas, Berry, or Johnson over Hankerson as well.

Come to think of it, OSU has 2 RBs already too, so I would say the same things about Clay. Geeze, I guess I'll just revise the whole thing like so:

Top 9
TE Gronkowski
OT Anthony Davis
C Kris O'Dowd
DE Ben Martin
DE Martez Wilson
DT Devon Still
DT Joseph Barksdale
DT Josh Brent
CB Ronald Johnson (RJ gets the nod over Berry just b/c I don't want UM to get him)

Honorable mention:
RB John Clay
WR Leonard Hankerson
DE Solomon Thomas
CB Eric Berry

How would you close out the class?

The latest news after the big game: OSU now leads for OT Anthony Davis, LB Brian Rolle, and S Major Wright.

Concerning Davis: :woohoo:
http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=145&p=8&c=1&nid=1885246
I had him as the #1 remaining recruiting priority. You're talking about the #2 tackle in the nation. This kid has stud written all over him. He looks like the next Korey Stringer. He could step into our two deep at LT next year, and immediately be better than Schafer. Speaking of which, here's how I see the 2 deep next year:

LT Boone, Davis
LG Rehring, Mitchum
C Cordle, Whaley
RG Person, Browning
RT Barton, Skinner

Daddy like. Add in the fab four in next year's class, and the machine just keeps on a-rollin!

Brian Rolle doesn't get me overly excited.
http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=145&p=8&c=1&nid=2430522
He's a three star player at a position with zero need, and his measurables are poor in size (5'11" height) and just average in speed (4.6 forty). However, he has a nice offer list, and from what I hear he really stands out on video. Just have to trust the coaches on this one that they know a player when they see one.

Then there is Major Wright:

At first I wasn't overly excited about this one either, as there is even less need at Safety than there is at LB; however, he's 4 stars, has decent measurables, and a very impressive offer list, so I was willing to settle for him. Then I heard that his video was unbelievable. This kid has a mean streak and is just a devastating hitter. He looks like the next Ronnie Lott. Yeah, I suppose I can settle for the next Ronnie Lott.

In other news, it looks like Ohio State is no longer interested in O'Dowd and Gronkowski. No word on what's up with O'Dowd, but I'm hearing Gronkowski is a bad character kid. Which is a shame, as the Buckeyes could really use a TE in this class and I wanted him. Oh well, OSU did get two TEs last year, and one of them (Ballard) looks like a total stud, so they should be ok there.

When I was in c-bus my buds cousin was telling me about this running back thats like 6-2 with major speed. But I dont think its john clay.

Yeah so basically the Michigan win shifted over a good chunk of their recruits for us to sift through....

If we win a Championship..wow we'll be stacked for a long time..

if I were you I would take Brent over Barksdale

Joe is overrated...nice combine type of kid but has no heart nor does he play that hard during games....Brent is someone as a UM fan I really want

you are dreaming if you think your gonna get Ronald Johnson from us

big news on Davis for you all....and I heard ben Martin is a buckeye and its only a matter of time

My list is a wish list, not a list of who I'm projecting Ohio State most likely gets.

Martin seems to be fluttering around. I've heard probably 4 or 5 times now "Martin's a Buckeye lock", only to hear the next week "Martin is now torn." The good news is he keeps bouncing between Ohio State leading and being uncertain (but still very much considering the Buckeyes), as opposed to bouncing between being uncertain and having other teams lead. I haven't heard any other team lead for him since the spring, when the Irish had a slight edge.

I have seen Martin play live this year....and he is a beast

all the insiders at UM have been counting on Matin heading to OSU so I dont even bother worrying about him.....just tellin ya what I heard

He obvisouly wants to go to a winner.

UM is in on 2 des that are better than him so im not worried about him

Everson Griffin is gonna come down to UM and USC
Martez Wilson is looking at Um OSU and ILL

UM's recuriting class will be better than OSU's when it is all said and done....I think we are off to a better start right now too

Yeah, ok man. Since JT has come to Columbus, every year but 2002 UM has supposedly had a better recruiting class than OSU's. Obviously the true test of a recruiting class is how good they perform on saturday and then on sunday, not how many stars they have in high school. I'll take Ohio State's kids. Tressel is clearly smoking LLLLLoyd in recruiting (as well as on the field).

Have fun with your recruiting class! I know I'll have fun watching Tressel prove once again his recruits are better.

Edit: cdt and I typing basically the same thing at the same time. Great minds think alike!

Btw, this is yet another example of you coming into an OSU thread and derailing it into UM vs OSU. You should change your name to THE TJ :thumbdown

According to Scout the recruiting rankings were:
2006: Michigan ranked 9th, Ohio St. ranked 13th
2005: Michigan ranked 2nd, Ohio St. ranked 7th
2004: Michigan ranked 5th, Ohio St. ranked 11th
2003: Michigan ranked 8th, Ohio St. ranked 25th
2002: Michigan ranked 19th, Ohio St. ranked 3rd

So ya, I'll take performance over how our recruiting has been ranked.

2002...man D'Andrea was ranked the #1 LB prospect and A.J. Hawk was ranked the #32 LB prospect.

Your style is old, TJ. I'm tired of every thread in this forum being OSU vs UM. :thumbdown
