when I saw tthat our favorite ex-Cav had 42 points in a blowout loss at GSW, I decided to invetsigate further.

there wasn't the trophy of a triple double

but he did score 21 points in the 4th quarter after his team was down 40 points.

No Tommy points for Randy Wittman for leaving this clown in

I'd take him over Larry Hughes... :chuckles:

Whats wrong with that? What did you expect him to do, stop playing?

Ricky Davis looks like Andre 3000.

Exactly what I was thinking....when you are down that many points, you have to make it respectable at that point. The Wolves tried to do that.

What's so wrong about this? This kind of thing happens all the time.

this is the same Ricky Davis who pleaded with the staff to leave him in during garbage minutes when he was here so he could pad his stats.

my point is our lil ricky hasn't changed

players that pad their stats on bad teams are players you don't want on yoursor atleast I don't

When did that happen?

how many games did you watch during the 17 win season pre Lebron

At least he entertained us while we lost.

You can think of it that way. So he wanted to play, he wanted to score points. Maybe he didnt like losing by 20+ and wanted the final score to be a little more respectable. Maybe hes competitive. He has pride.

Whats wrong with padding your stats? He was the only guy on the Cavs who could put the ball in the bucket, him getting a better ppg average was only going to be beneficial for himself in the long run. Remeber the NBA is a business.

I like seeing the ball go throught the net, the "swish" net looks sexy. Maybe he wanted to see that instead of starring at empty seats or thinking about the snow blizzard that awaited him after he left the Gund.

Hating on him for finishing a game to the very end is weak.

more like hating on him when he wasn't interested in his team but just getting his

makes me wonder how many people here actually suffered through the 17 win season and watched his antics

or maybe I've been drinking too much . . .

I own season tickets...I was there for atleast 15 games. There was never a documentation of him asking to get back in the game after the game was over. Now you are just making things up...people hate Ricky D, go for it..Im not exactly sure why. But Ive never seen so much stuff made up about one player who played harder than any Cavalier the last ten years. Odd.

I don't know how hard Ricky Davis played. He took a lot of shots and did a lot of hotdogging, but I don't know how hard he played. I don't remember him doing the dirty work while here, but to be honest, it wasn't like I was watching all that closely either. Ricky Davis was fun though and interesting, so while I find stuff he does comical, I don't hate the guy.

As far stat padding goes, the infamous triple double attempt sort of solidified his image. The guy will always be open to accusations about stat padding just for that game alone. I don't know if this game was a case of stat padding, I don't really care either, but it is not like it is out of the question either.

....and now, for a Ricky Davis tribute:

My main problem with Ricky is that he straight up refused to come to grips with the fact that this was LeBron's team and that if he wanted to be a part of this team, he would need to accept a secondary role. He's talented, he plays hard, but he just refused to be a team player here once LeBron got here. Their was that one rumored incident where he got in LeBron's face either in the huddle or in the locker room and screamed "THIS IS MY ****ING TEAM". Sure Ricky.

That said, I'd probably rather have Ricky and his cancer attitude at 6M a year then Hughes at 13M.

I always thought the triple-double attempt vs. the Jazz was a little overblown. Childish? Yes. Selfish? Sure. But that was only the Cavs 12th win that year and they blew out a playoff team at home. I'm sure Ricky got caught up in the moment and made a dumb mistake. Countless other players have done a lot worse in their personal lives and aren't labeled as villians the way Ricky was.

Honestly, I was mostly entertained by Ricky. I went to more games than I care to admit between 2000-2003 (luckily, most were free tickets) and Andre Miller, Ricky Davis, and a young Boozer (pre-backstabbing) were the lone bright spots in a bleak basketball future pre-LeBron.

And if you're gonna point out bad things about Ricky, it's only fair to point out some good things too. He did supply fans in both Cleveland and Boston with free season tickets for being dedicated fans. "Ricky's Renegades" in Cleveland and the "Get Buckets Brigade" in Boston.
