The agent for small forward Sasha Pavlovic says his client also would consider heading to Europe if a deal can't be reached with his current team, the Cavaliers. "We certainly are exploring that option," agent Marc Cornstein says. "We have to, absolutely. I am not saying we're in negotiations with European teams right now by any means. But it's an option. I wouldn't be doing my job if it wasn't."

Pavlovic and the Cavaliers remain, according to Cornstein, "very far apart," on a new contract. The Cavaliers are also struggling through negotiations with Varejao, a power forward. The two sets of negotiations remain at a stalemate. Because of the restricted tag, the Cavaliers own the NBA rights for both players. If no long-term deal is worked out, the players would be forced to sign one-year qualifying offers. After fulfilling the year, they would be unrestricted free agents next summer, free to re-sign with the Cavaliers, or any of the league's other 29 teams.

Varejao's agent, Dan Fegan, has already indicated that if his client is forced to accept the qualifying offer, he is unlikely to return to Cleveland. As for Pavlovic, Cornstein says, "That would be something Sasha would have to say directly. But I think it is a safe bet he would not want to come back."

"Cornstein says he doesn't even have plans to meet with Cavs GM Danny Ferry. "Right now, there's no reason," Cornstein says. "We're so far apart, it wouldn't make sense. If something changes, though, it's only an hour flight to Cleveland from New York. I am not stubborn."

This is not sounding good.

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

Just negotiations tactic. Both AV and Sasha will be there.

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

You can thank Charlie Bell and his agent for the new faux-panic bluff for RFA with average talent. After the "reported" European offer for Bell's services, Miami raised their offer on the RFA. Supply and demand of cash has been adjusted, so now AV and Pavs will likely do the same.

If I were Ferry I would personally call their bluff, but that's just me.

Heh, funny. I just made a post considering this as a possibility in the Kirelenko thread, and then I click refresh and it's news.

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

Yeah, not exactly an inspiring article.

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

It was not a"reported" offer Randolphkeys. Bell actually came to Greece to visit Olympiacos' facilities and the team brass wined and dined him for a couple of days here. He got a hefty contract offer from us (exceeding €2 mln - net of taxes), he just did not wanna come back to Europe. It could be a bluff on Bell's part but our interest was veary serious.

Btw, nice avatar Ben.

Don't worry guys Ferry has this in the bag..he's just lulling everyone to sleep with this "do absolutely nothing" tactic but watch..before you know it we're going to sign Sasha and Andy, trade Larry for Kirilenko, Draft Picks, and cash considerations, and if he feels like it he might package Newble, Wesley, and Damon and swing us Shawn Marion.

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

Pretty sweet....

Luke would have never done this to us.... :(

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

Typical agent scare tactics. Sasha would be an idiot to leave this situation, playing alongside the best player in the NBA for the next few years. That would be a brilliant career move.

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

Sasha could be the next Anthony Parker... He can dominate the euro leagues, win euro championships, win euro MVP's, and come back at the age of 26 primed and ready to destroy the NBA...

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

We'll see. They don't have a lot of time to make the call. They sign the QO, and I am here to tell you they will be traded to the worst backwater team we can find. I can see AV in Minneapolis drubbing Fegan with an icicle from his front porch.

Re: Sasha Pavlovic Considers Playing In Europe

They don't have to agree to a trade if they sign a QO. They can wait until the season is over and walk for nothing.
