SELL SELL SELL!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I suppose, but I don't like dealing in "praying" that some guy develops into an ace quality pitcher. When you cant buy people, I guess that's what we're resorting to.

How can we talk deadline deals when we dont even know if Shapiro will see us as sellers or buyers?

As such. the thread is going to BE about whether we will be sellers or buyers. Just the way conversations go. They can't always be on rails.

I don't think there's any doubt we're sellers. That doesn't mean we're rebuilding though. I don't read b00bie's posts anymore because they're all the same. Combative and defending Shapiro and Wedge to the death and ridiculing any possible ideas for change.

Just because we're sellers doesn't mean we're blowing up the team. Like I said 5 pages ago, I don't see any of our franchise guys being moved unless some amazing offer comes along but we have some guys in DeRosa and Pavano whose contracts and age make them ideal trade bait.

So would you move Victor for a pack of say, 3 prospects, say one top tier pitching prospect and a couple lower level guys?

No I would need MLB ready pitching and top tier prospects for Victor. Joe Mauer is the only catcher that comes to mind that I'd rather have right now. For example if we dealt him to the Red Sox I'd want at least Bucholz, Delcarmen and some other guys. Again, I really don't see Lee or VMart being moved and I wouldn't want them moved unless we could get 2-3 guaranteed great pitchers.

I'd move them if the offer was great and I knew we couldnt re-sign them. But I'd really like to sign VMart.

Obviously you haven't been reading them.

I'd have no problem with Wedge being fired.

That's the crux of the problem with this thread though. It's waaaay too early to know if we are buyers or sellers. You are simply stating we are sellers at the start of your thread, and some of us don't think so at all. How can you expect me or others to start talking about deals and trades, etc if we think we may be buyers instead??

This thread is a good one for when we know FOR SURE what the heck we are. Until then, seven games back in a BAD division ain't nothing teams can't come back from on June 10th.

Look, I'm not going to argue whether we're buyers or sellers. I think the title of the thread and my first post made my stance on the issue pretty clear. I didn't make it "Buyers or Sellers?" for a reason, I firmly believe this team and the division as a whole (except maybe Detroit) has zero chance of winning a world series.

If you believe we can contend and are in the market to add players, feel free to make a thread called BUY BUY BUY.

I'm sorry if I'm a little pissy but the bickering in this forum is getting out of hand. Just look at the draft pick thread.

Thats fine, and you're entitled to your opinion.

But if you think determining what teams do or do not have a chance to win a world series in the second week of June...you need to have your head examined.

At this stage of the game last year, everyone was saying "Tampa is off to a good start, but they don't have enough to last in that division."

The Phillies weren't even ahead in their division until the middle of September when they went on like a seven game winning streak.

It's all about who's hot at the end of the season, trying to determine that in June is foolhardy.
