Shanahan/Loggains Gone

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
"Sources familiar with the situation said the split was caused because the pair did not see eye to eye with the front office about quarterback Johnny Manziel. The front office wants Manziel to be the starter, and the source said the coaches do not believe they can win with him."

How are both of these things true?

Excellent question.

Scary, scary stuff if the front office believes this strongly about Manziel being the future.

I would really like to know once and for all what "front office" means with the Browns.

I wouldn't be happy with it, but I would at least like to have confirmation that we have Jerry Jones Lite as our owner.

I don't see anyone besides Haslam that 'front office' could possibly be referring to. Is there anyone else in the organization who has significant power / tenure? After the house cleaning at the end of last season is there anyone else left it could be attributed to?

Well, with an actually function organization that should mean Farmer.

99% of the evidence suggests we don't have one of those.

I just want the final 1%, for clarity and sanity's sake.

You've got Jerry Jones Heavy as your owner.

Except without the great taste.

So basically Pearl or Schaefer. Haven't heard of those two? That's because they suck.

I'm willing to bet Double Low Gains is going to be working as an Uber driver next season, and ten times happier with his professional life choices.

:bad:

Eh...

Butch Davis single-handedly set this franchise back about 5 years.

Yet he's been the only coach to get us to the playoffs since we came back.

If he didn't have the power & only coached, he'd have been fine.

When was the last time an OWNER and not the head coach or general manager decided the fate of the offensive coordinator? In fact, pretty much of all of the dysfunction and chaos can be attributed to the Browns' criminal, cracker carpetbagging owner since he's the one who ultimately insisted on drafting his money making munchkin quarterback. Of course, the "front office" relentlessly pressuring the coaches to play Manziel starts with Big Jim. Just like the Redskins are eternally doomed with Dan Snyder at the helm, the Browns will continue to be a complete shit show with Haslam calling the shots. Anyone else yearning for the good old days of Randy Lerner watching the games on Sunday from a pub in Birmingham, England?

Agreed, but therein lies my argument. A Lerner screw up to give him the power.

He led them to their only playoff appearance.
At 9-7...

And drafted the likes of:
Gerard Warren
Quincy Morgan
William Green
Jeff Faine
Chaun Thompson
Andre Davis (WR)

And those are just rounds 1 and 2... Shall I continue?

Not really. It definitely leads to some crazy situations like today, but I'd rather have an owner fully invested in trying to make the team good like Jimmy or Danny G than somebody like Lerner or the Dolans.

You forgot two-time Pro Bowler Ryan Pontbriand.

But I don't disagree he was a horrendous personnel guy.

So, you approve of unqualified people making crucial personnel decisions and micromanaging a coaching staff? Not exactly a formula for anything but utter failure.
