Shanahan/Loggains Gone

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Between Pettine, O'Neil, DeFilippo, Phillips, Roper and O'Connell they have exactly 2 years COMBINED NFL experience in the jobs they are currently in. Roper and Phillips have zero NFL experience and O'Connell has never coached on any staff at any level.

This might be the most inexperienced NFL coaching staff since the league's inception! We've tried everything else, might as well give this idea a shot.

Optimist in me says, "Well, retreads of NFL coaching trees haven't amounted to many wins here. This is a group with developmental experience and a young offense. Roper coached some future Pro Bowlers in college and always had high scoring offenses, he is just new to the pro level. O'Connell was a private skills coach, and I've heard those guys turn down assistant coaching gigs all the time. LaCharles Bentley doesn't take an assistant job because business is so good with his skills camp. Maybe O'Connell is fresh blood, ready to make a name."

The pessimist says, "So nobody with a qualified resume is working for Haslam, huh?"

In a weak attempt to see the silver lining, at least they're not too ingrained in their ways to adjust to the players they have.

The Browns are going to have to prove that they can foster an atmosphere of continuity, positivity and strong ideals before anyone else reputable takes a leap at their openings..

The turnstyle the front office has been over the past decade-plus has left the rest of the organization floating in limbo; void of any strong identity. Mix that with the recent change in ownership and I'm betting many of those folks who have been working in Berea aren't sure who to buy-in to because they have no faith that the person will be there long-term..
