Shaun Livingston Will Soon be a Free Agent

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Signing him for me is a big priority this offseason. Dan Gilbert I trust will spend the money.

It better not cost that much money to keep around Shaun Livingston.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

If the choice is between Livingston or more stiffs like Sloan, Pargo or Quinn than of course I'd like Livingston back. Otherwise I don't care either way if he comes back or not. Decent player but not a great defender, no range on his shot, and makes some absolutely horrible decisions every game. Scott has been able to get some better play from him than what he's shown in recent years with other teams.
You don't get into bidding wars over or give serious money to players like Livingston.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

With Kyrie's health likely to be an on-going issue, back-up PG is somewhere I would like to see a good sized investment made.

If Kyrie goes down for a good stretch, I don't know that Livingston could at least keep the ship afloat (drop-off with anyone is a given).

We need a back-up that is capable of keeping the bottom from falling out of our season if an injury happens. It is probably the most important position on the team outside the starting 5 given Kyrie's history.

I like Livingston, but given our unique situation I don't think he is adequate.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

I think we should make offers to guys like Jarrett Jack or Billups, and if we cant afford them, i'm ok with Livingston.

There are not many great options in the FA market (maybe Nate Robinson, Jeff Teague, Darren Collison? dont know if they are RFAs or UFAs though) and I dont see we making a trade for a backup PG.

He would be a great fit. Good enough to help you off the bench as a 6th man, while also being good enough to step in and run the show without the season imploding if Kyrie misses a significant stretch of time.

The Cavs' most prominent free agents are guards Wayne Ellington and Shaun Livingston and center Marreese Speights. .... Livingston emerged as a top-notch backup point — not quite as good as Golden State's Jarrett Jack — but still a quality guard, nonetheless. He'll likely ask for $3 million or $4 million, and settle for something like $2 million or $2.5 million, a source said. Will the Cavs ante up that kind of money for him? They should.

Damn I wish there was a way we could nix Speights and keep Livingston.

I don't think Mo Speights is a Mike Brown type player. I could see both Wayne Ellington and Shaun Livingston excelling under Mike Brown's system, particularly Shaun because of his length, IQ and willingness to defend.

Livingston would be a great piece to keep around, he's so even keeled and professional, I could really see him as a stabilizing force to our young guys.

I think the News-Herald is jumping the gun on Marreese Speights there. Only a free agent if he doesn't pick up his player option.

I don't think the Cavs will overspend on Livingston but I hope they sign him or another veteran PG to something reasonable.

I agree on Livingston, though I think the quoted $2-2.5M would be a good signing. Can't expect to get a good backup PG at the minimum forever.

Have to see if Speights thinks he can do better. If he does, he'll opt out. If Speights opts out and we decline Miles and don't tender Casspi (assuming we do tender Ellington and pick up the option on Jones), then the Cavs will be about $20 million under the cap after re-signing Ellington and our draft picks.

I'd give Shaun a deal that pays him 2.5mil next season, and then have a team option for the next season worth 3-3.5mil.

the only way I'd let him go is to bring back Mo Gotti, but thats probably not gonna happen. I like me some Shaun

As long as Ellington is back, idc about any of our other FAs.

Why include the bolded? There's no mention of the Warriors or Jack ANYWHERE in that story before this piece of opinion is added. Even if its a popular opinion, there's no reason to include it in the article. Frankly, I view it as negative reinforcement, and it in no way contributes to a positive public opinion of the Cavs' franchise or front office.

Jack also is payed over 5 million as a back up and after this playoffs he'll be looking for something more than that. No doubt I'd love to have Jack as a backup PG. But when you can have Livingston who has the length that MB wants for half that price it's a no brainer. Bad bad reporting.

I'd love to see the market absolutely deny Mo Gotti anything above 3 million and then I'd happily pay him that to come back.
