Shaun Livingston Will Soon be a Free Agent

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Well damn, Professor Cavatt got me! If Livingston did have prescience perhaps he could clue us in on whether the darn Cavs can ever win a championship in our lifetime?

If Waiters is down for a decent amount, i'll be interested to see if Livingston CAN score the ball more these days as well.

Dat post fadeaway. Most dangerous one since Delonte. Am I right, or am I right? He also always pulls it out when we're stagnant, gets us going a lot.

When he's taking those shots you can tell how much his height advantage helps him. He towers over the smaller defenders and it helps him get that shot off.

Shaun Livingston thought he had done enough to have made the Rockets roster, but was not at all surprised when he didn’t.

Livingston said the Rockets “absolutely” made a decision based on his contract rather than his play. Livingston, who returned with the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday, had just $1 million of the $3.5 million remaining on his contract guaranteed and was among the Rockets’ final cuts, though Rockets coach Kevin McHale acknowledged that he had strongly advocated that the Rockets keep Livingston’s experience as a backup point guard.

“I was not really surprised,” Livingston said. “There were rumors of that type of situation unfolding. It’s frustrating, but at the same time, it’s part of the business and it’s a part of being professional.

“It’s no secret that’s (Rockets general manager) Daryl Morey’s strategy, how he is known. He is very complex with the cap and how he does things. It could end up working out for the best for them. I’ve been a victim of circumstances this season. That’s been my theme this season.”

Livingston signed with the Wizards, was cut, and then signed with the Cavaliers, moving into starting lineup when Kyrie Irving went out with a sprained left shoulder, offering Livingston a chance to show his ability to still contribute in his seventh NBA season.

“I would like to think so,” Livingston said. “It’s worked out well for me. Hopefully, it’s worked out well for them. We’re trying to win games. In the midst of doing there, there has been some decent production as an individual. It can only help. I’m trying to make the best of the opportunity.”

McHale had hoped he would be doing that for the Rockets, but the Rockets kept rookie Scott Machado and his non-guaranteed contract.
“He’s a great guy,” McHale said. “Knows how to play. He’s past so much of the stuff he had to get past as a young player to be a team player. He just has a whole vibe about him that’s great.

“I was advocating very hard for his influence.”

Well, technically, he didn't sign with Cleveland. The Cavs claimed him off waivers, so Livingston didn't have any choice about coming to Cleveland.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

I have a feeling Sean is a bit jaded by how the process of being on a roster works. Maybe even more so coming from where he's come from (being such a high pick)and showing he can still play and yet he still got/gets waived. Hell, i think anyone of us would be a bit jaded by that. Hopefully, he has found a home with the Cavaliers. I am a big fan of his leadership on the floor. I think he could help Kyrie become a better facilitator. (and i like the versatility he offers us with his height)

cavs get Len they better bring back livingston. Only guard on the team that can fathom a pass to a big man.

You must not have watched the Hornets game. Kyrie started the game passing to the big men trying to get them involved in the offense.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Yes, bring back Kyrie too if we draft Len. But, I don't see any of the other guards at all looking for the big men. It's all just side to side, very little inside out play. That's why if we get len i think Livingston should be a more prominent part of the rotation next year like he is now. Obviously Kyrie is option number one, but pushing that size advantage will be option number two.

Where was Livingston today?

Not only that, but Livingston is also the only guy on the team who knows back to the basket post up moves. Len needs to learn those.

When he was at Duke with an athletic big man that was good at getting passes from a driving PG and then finishing in Mason Plumlee he did it quite a bit. I think Len could be in a similar situation.

Re: Shaun Livingston, best waiver acquisition in years

Signing him for me is a big priority this offseason. Dan Gilbert I trust will spend the money.
