So Long, Jadeveon Clowney

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'll miss him as a player. He was good when he was on the field.

The problems were more about when he wasn't on the field. Which as like 40% of the time.

The Browns sacked Jadeveon Clowney before the season finale.
One day after he criticized the team and coaching staff, the Browns sent Clowney home before practice Friday, effectively ending the defensive end's second season in Cleveland.
Coach Kevin Stefanski refused to directly address Clowney's status for Sunday when the Browns (7-9) visit the Pittsburgh Steelers while looking to sweep both games from their rival for the first time since 1988.
However, Stefanski indicated Clowney won't be joining the team on the trip.
“Nothing comes above the team,” he said.
Clowney, in his second season with the Browns, said in an interview Thursday with cleveland.com that he didn’t feel appreciated and was “95% sure” he wasn’t coming back for a third season.

Clowney never struck me as the type that wanted to put a ton of work in so this isn't a big surprise to me. He's relied on his natural ability his whole career. He is lucky he came into the league very good.

See ya! Really weird - not only does he not have a team anymore, feels like he just torpedoed his own market value with his antics.

Is he going to miss out on some incentives now?

Plot twist: he just REALLY didn't want to go to Pittsburgh and deal with the unusual smell(s). He figured this would get him out of having to make the trip.

Honestly it’s never usually a good idea when you practically have to beg a guy to come to your team.

Berry pursued him relentlessly. He laughed at us and signed with Tenn then Berry kept trying and trying and we got him. And even after a good year, we had to basically beg him to come back.

In any kind of relationship, that’s not gonna end well.

Leonard and Penny proved that wrong. #BigBangTheory

This scheme or lack of scheme that Joe Woods runs upfront does leave alot to be desired for guys who depend on sacks. It really depends on the player to beat their matchup and there isn't anything scheme wise to help create confusion to the opposing offensive line. Offensive lines can settle into protections that work because there is little to no variation from play to play on who is coming and from where.

I could see how a player could get annoyed that another is getting an easier matchup even if it isn't true. They aren't even moving around the 4 d-linemen to give guys shots at different matchups during the game. If they were shifting Clowney and Garrett from side to side, Clowney probably would realize Garrett wasn't getting an easier matchup. There is a little to no scheming to find which matchup we can exploit throughout the game.
