So long, Kay Felder

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah, Its nice that we are giving some vital game time for Kay to develop but its evident we can't bank on him to contribute in the playoffs. He hustles but due to his size, he is just a huge negative defensively. And offensively, he isn't good enough to overcome the flaws he brings on the defensive end. But its his rookie year. He will need time to develop.

If the cavs are patient with felder, there is pg in the dleague named cook that has the potential to be better..

He is not that bad defensively, he just isn't part of the offense while he plays with Lebron and the defenders just leave him open.
Like I said, he needs to have the ball in his hands and learn from his mistakes and he needs to do it in the D-league.

I wanted to give Felder every chance because I'm usually in favor of the underdogs, the little guys, the long shots to somehow become special and unique difference makers. But that's somewhat of an unrealistic bias on my part.

Watching Felder play I have a hard time seeing how he's ever going to be a difference maker at the NBA level. The only way I can imagine it is if he develops his shooting skills to a level comparable to Steph Curry. I just don't see Felder as a good bet to overcome his obvious lack of length in a league where length is important.

In retrospect I think this was a vanity pick driven by Dan Gilbert's Napoleon complex. I would rather give anyone else a chance who has more obvious inherent physical traits like length combined with quickness, then throw in some mental traits like tenacity and toughness, and basketball skills that include basic ball handling and passing competency. You would think there's some undiscovered prospects floating around out there with these traits.

<Edited to add the obligatory RCF legal language that must be included whenever you shit all over one of our players;
I hope he proves me wrong, I'm actually rooting for the kid, yada yada yada>

I'm still not sure if the d-league has the length and height to help Felder adjust his game to the NBA. I would send him down with McRae and tell both of them to figure out how to play off each other. That way they work on both their on and off ball skills while developing chemistry that they can easily translate to the NBA. Sending Felder down alone will just give him confidence but I'm not sure what else it helps him develop.

Since the LeBron call out, it's been straight...

...from Felder.

Gotta tell the truth.

At least you aren't being a dick about it, but there are a bunch of people ripping into him, and many of you are giving up on him too soon. The kid came from a very small school, and is playing the toughest position on the court. He deserves a season or two to develop and improve before giving up on him. Has some great physical talents that can translate well, enough to compensate for his lack of size, at least enough to be contribute on a nightly basis.

I think Felder will be fine. I'm a fan. I'm just being honest in saying he's sucked since LeBron called him and Liggins out. I wish it weren't true.

I'm still high on him for the long-term, though.

Well if you saw the second half, you'd say Felder took today's PG tryout personally.

Great defense on Rubio, hitting threes, and making nice passes.

Put Kay in the NBA midget pride commercial!!!
