So long, Kay Felder

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well if you saw the second half, you'd say Felder took today's PG tryout personally.

Great defense on Rubio, hitting threes, and making nice passes.

The more minutes he gets in a game the more comfortable he looks. Anytime he has gotten 2nd half minutes after not having a good 1st half, he makes adjustments to his game. He is clearly working on all aspects of his game. His 3 ball looks much better. He just needs NBA minutes to adjust his game.

Easily the best stretch of play in his career in the 4th there. Moved the ball well, penetrated at will, canned open 3s, pestered on defense...those are things you can build off of.

But he still attempts some difficult passes only LeBron can make on this team (driving jump pass to a shooter in the opposite corner) which he can't get away with in the NBA...he's attempted that pass a few times this year, and every one of them has been picked off by the other team.

He leaves his feet a bit too much to pass in general, which I'm guessing he thinks he has to do in order to compensate for his height, but in reality he doesn't need to do that...hopefully he eventually realizes that, and uses his height to his advantage with bounce passes.

I like Kay, he play hard and try to make right plays... but he is going to be inconsistent this year as most rookies do... his best use for now is a sparkplug when the rotation guys are out of synch... hopefully Lance did well on the workout and gets signed because we need someone with a little more experience...

It seems like his form on three-pointers is becoming more consistent. Not saying that the results are there yet. He just looks more at ease at this point of the season.

I think part of his problem involves the degree of difficulty he ends up facing. That layup against Towns was great, and so was the pass to Tristan, but so much has to go right when he attempts moves like that. I know they want him to push the pace but he gets stuck making questionable decisions because he's rushing.

Happy he showed some life today, hope he can reproduce it more often than he has in the last month.

I look forward to seeing Kay two years into the future. I think he's gonna end up being though of as a very good pick at 54.

He's talented and we are in the golden age for quick, offensive minded PGs who can drive, shoot and pass. The rules are tilted in their favor.

Yep.

I was critical of him in the first half but he was quite good in the second half. Pestered Dunn and Rubio on the defensive end. Actually outplayed Dunn. Offensively, he moved the ball well and didn't try any ridiculous stuff. Kept it simple. And his jumper looks much better than it used to in the first few months of the season!

He is still quite raw to be trusted in a play-offs series but he has certain attributes which can work in the NBA. Probably needs an year or two before he is really ready to be a solid rotation player.

A.C mentioned how Felder needs to address his ability to attack the rim, and he's onto something.

Felder does seem to love going to his left, but teams are taking that away from him. A.C mentioned backing up, dribbling, then going back left to the rim makes sense.. but you could also just improve that midrange jumper to the point they can't afford to allow you to get an easy open look.

This kid does have a lot of talent. Can't believe they got him for essentially cash.. It pays to have a owner like Dan Gilbert.

I hope Kay really does soak up everything this season and gets those key minutes, maybe even come April where it matters, because then next year this kid can bring something important to the table.. Depending on the current roster, of course.

I wish we'd send him down to canton every opportunity we can. He needs as much playing time as he can get down there.

He has such short legs that it takes him 3 steps to make 1 big normal step of an average basketball player.
Swear to god, if he had long legs he would have been the fastest man alive. Just try to watch his midget steps and how quick he moves them, it's insane.

I think he has crazy good work ethic and if he becomes a consistent 3pt threat(and he will be) then he is going to be extremely hard to guard

I almost wish that Lue sat Kay down and said basically...

Listen, I'm giving you the keys to the 2nd unit. It's the same keyring that Delly had last year. LeBronand Kyrie are playing 30 minutes a night for the rest of the season. You're running the offense the rest of the time . Your PT is not in jeopardy unless your effort sucks. Don't look over your shoulder. We'll take the good with the bad. We're gonna get the 1 seed in the East anyways and we can't catch GSW or SA anyway. But I'm gonna give you a chance to get a lot of REAL minutes. I want you to produce. Don't let being a rookie scare you. You have a lot of talent and I know you can play.

Seriously...What can it hurt? The worst that can happen is a bunch of angry people in the game threads here for 2 months.

I know it's not gonna happen this year, but I'm not gonna lie, that's what I would do right now. Fuck worrying about one of these injured old bums. Kay can be electric on the court at times. Turn him loose! And if he goes 1-12 with 5 turnovers a couple times, as long as he is playing hard, I think those are growing pains we would not regret living through.

People sometimes forget how bad Delly looked during his rookie year... it would take a couple of years for Kay to be a consistent backup...

Especially on a contending team where mistakes are magnified and everyone is gunning for your team every night

If Kay got any semblance of consistent minutes, perhaps we would see more 2nd half's like last night.

I know you don't expect 2nd round rookies to contribute in the playoffs but when compared to the likes of Farmar and a potentially hobbled Chalmers, Felder doesn't look too bad.
