Star Wars: The Force Awakens teaser #2

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
LOL Han Solo hasn't changed his clothes in 35 years. Kind of killed his cool factor right there...

A lot of those scenes are either oddly cropped or just fucking trailer bait.

God I hate Abrams' style of directing... It's all towards getting ticket sales and marketing and never about substance. He generates blockbusters, no doubt, but his movies are highly forgettable.

For instance...

Scenes like this aren't cinematographically good, because it's unnatural to the setting and the environment. Think about how the story, setting, and plot had to be twisted just to make this scene happen...

Tells you just how far this guy is willing to go to generate sales and ensure job security.

I honestly think this movie is going to suck, and that really makes me upset.

Lol, ok you guys.

Star Wars: The Lens Flare Awakens.

Why anyone continues to watch JJ Abrams bastardizations of anything is beyond me.

Fucking +1.... This guy is the worst. And the trailers really seem to show the same shit we've seen from him in previous movies.. Marketable movies filled with trailer bait and have next to zero real substance.

It's pretty clear to me that's all he knows how to do. I'm a Trekker, so he already ruined my favorite series. Although there is talk of CBS reviving the correct continuity of Star Trek for a new series, which will make those garbage movies be forgotten quickly.

But it's clear his take on the Star Wars universe is going to be full of shiny shit that doesn't belong in the universe. I'm not a huge Star Wars fan anyway, so doesn't change the fact I wasn't going to watch the movie. But yeah, another ruining courtesy of JJ Abrams.

How in god's name do you gather this from a teaser trailer with next to no dialogue?

I can appreciate disliking JJ Abram's past work. I don't, but it's fine if you do.

But you guys are hilarious in this thread. "Han Solo hasn't changed his clothes?? Garbage movie." "Remember the underwear girl from Star Trek?? This Star Wars movie is most likely the same."

Twitter culture. :chuckle:

Like what?

Half that fucking trailer is SHINY SHINY SHINY LENS FLARE. DIRT ON SHINY, MORE DIRT, SHINY, DIRT, DIRTY, SHINY DIRT, SHINY LIGHTS ON SHINY DIRT. Blah.
I.... counted 2 lens flares. One was atmospheric haze from the sun.

Also, I feel like you just described A New Hope (minus the lens flares).

I need dialogue to critique cinematography?

C'mon Stereo...

I can appreciate disliking JJ Abram's past work. I don't,

Stereo, I could go down the list of movies he has directed and literally all of them are have a very similar stylistic tone, narrative, and style of direction. Which can be expected, that is uniquely his style.

His style is so unique, that it is easily identifiable and it leaves and undeniable mark on his films.

So when you say to me, "I enjoy JJ Abrams movies," I either immediately think (1) you're a popcorn blockbuster movie viewer and not really paying attention, which is fine, go enjoy the ride; or (2) you don't take his movies as seriously as some others might. Either or, it's all personal preference so thats okay too.. But don't tell me Abrams' work is good storytelling, or good filmmaking.

But you guys are hilarious in this thread. "Han Solo hasn't changed his clothes??

It's a valid point; why hasn't he changed his clothes?

Garbage movie."

If past is prologue then what should we expect from Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

"Remember the underwear girl from Star Trek??

You watched the movie; you don't even know who she is...

You're proving my point.

This Star Wars movie is most likely the same."

The same as all his other films... ??

Yes, most likely.

If Steven Spielberg were to release a trailer for a new movie; going in, would you honestly not expect to see his style in the movie - the same style from his previous films?

Twitter culture. :chuckle:

You got me fucked up, bro... I don't tweet shit, I'm not a social media guy.

I.... counted 2 lens flares. One was atmospheric haze from the sun.

So there won't be infinite lens flares in this movie? You wanna bet?

Also, I feel like you just described A New Hope (minus the lens flares).

Not sure how.. A New Hope created this entire franchise from nothing. In that, the universe and it's style established an old, rusting, haggard galactic civilization that had existed for virtually countless millenia. It essence, the people there had reached a technological plateau point, and things no longer needed to be new, clean, or well-kept. From a financial and time standpoint, it was less important than simply functioning.

That gritty look and feel was used in lots of films like Blade Runner, Heavy Metal, and Star Wars (the originals).

JJ is gonna do this well. His movies are always entertaining, and he's been a SW fan all his life, so he'll respect the canon.
Looks like the Ben Skywalker rumors were true.

Don't get gouri started on JJ Abrams. He hates him as much as he worships Nolan. It isn;t worth the hassle.

C'mon Stereo...

No.... but I think you might want to hear some to accurately portray if the movie will have substance, which was your quote.

So when you say to me, "I enjoy JJ Abrams movies," I either immediately think (1) you're a popcorn blockbuster movie viewer and not really paying attention, which is fine, go enjoy the ride; or (2) you don't take his movies as seriously as some others might. I don't take his movies seriously. Who does? Popcorn blockbusters is exactly what he makes, and I don't see why those don't have their merit as exactly that?

If past is prologue then what should we expect from Star Wars: The Force Awakens?
...What?

You watched the movie; you don't even know who she is...

You're proving my point.
...What? I mean, so are you assuming that this film will make that exact same mistake? Maybe it will. I don't see evidence in the trailer though.

The same as all his other films... ??

Yes, most likely.
