Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets / T-Mac to Knicks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Chad Ford has the same calculations, but I assume he still thinks two max f.a.'s are possible

A 7 year vet can sign a max contract starting at 30% of the cap, or 105% of what he made previously..whichever is more.

The 105% comes to ~16.6 Million for LeBron/Bosh/Wade

16.6+16.6=33.2.

Not enough room. I was actually off by ~1.5 million...but still not quite enough.

If Ny really Wanted to go all in they would do this lmfao !

don't know if Boston would do it though?

Darrly Morey is just bending people over. The Rockets come out of this with Kevin Martin AND Jordan Hill AND the ability to swap 2011 1st round picks with the Knicks and take the Knicks 2012 first rounder?!

PG: Aaron Brooks/Lowry
SG: Kevin Martin/Ariza
SF: Ariza/Battier/Budinger
PF: Scola/Hill/Armstrong
C: Yao Ming/Hayes

+2 First rounders in 2011 and 2012, when the Rockets have a history of getting value late in the draft (Hayes, Brooks, Landry)

They might be pretty damn good next year...that's a nice team I might have to root for them on the Cavs off nights..

Is the 2012 pick completely unprotected?

Is the 2012 pick completely unprotected?

Yes it is a Top 5 pick Unprotected. Donnie Walsh is basically swinging for the fences. If he doesn't land Wade or LeBron it could be a huge failure. I mean even if they land Stoudamire and Joe Johnson or something they gave up SOO much. They are going to have ZERO talent coming to them in the draft. Basically Galinari and pray the big FA's come there.

Chad Ford
But it's a plan that comes with a steep price, tweets ESPN's Chad Ford: "The Knicks gave up A LOT for extra $9.5 million in space. Hill, a Top 1 protected in 2011 and Top 5 protected in 2012. They better get LeBron."

so i had it backwards...

*Knicks Swap Picks in 2011 (Top 1 protected)
*Knicks pick in 2012 (Top 5 protected)

Darrly Morey and Danny Ferry must come from the same school of thought. They just bend the other teams over in trades and laugh the entire time. Very, very impressive by Houston here. That and the Knicks are dumb as shit.

Look at it from NY's perspective: they are confident they are getting James, so from that viewpoint it makes sense.

From our perspective, it's dumb because we are confident we are keeping James.

Wow did Don Walsh screw up the draft this past year. He turned the no. 8 pick into cap relief, all so he can try to sign two big FAs? Which big FAs will want to go to a depleted team with new leadership who just showed they don't know what they are doing in the draft? I think this is just another debacle for the Knicks. I wouldn't be shocked if they end up like the Bulls did back post-Jordan when they where shunned by McGrady and Duncan.

I think the Knicks have just hamstrung themselves for years. This is Paxson level stupidity.

Suprised more people aren't talking about the Kings...they have a very good core of players.

Tyreke Evans
Donte Green
Carl Landry
Jason Thompson
Spencer Hawes
Omri Casspi

The Kings do have some great young players... but they also lost to the lowly Warriors last night. Martin's chucking and iffy defense were certainly a part of the problem. I do love the young Kings front line - Landry was exactly the kind of low post scorer they needed.

I did, I thought Sacramento got the best of the deal. Houston had to give up someone that was putting in work for them. Martin was not in the future plans for sac with Tyreke on board. Landy should work incredibly well with Tyreke, and it gives them more depth up front.
