Stein: Kevin Martin to Rockets / T-Mac to Knicks

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I did, I thought Sacramento got the best of the deal. Houston had to give up someone that was putting in work for them. Martin was not in the future plans for sac with Tyreke on board. Landy should work incredibly well with Tyreke, and it gives them more depth up front.

I love Landry, and he is going to be a great pair with Evans, no doubt, but Houston wins this hands down. Look at Diop's post. The Rockets got a wing scorer (their current options are Ariza (yikes) and Battier (wha??)), a guy that can defend and a low post guy that can move into a Landry type role. Then they got enough good picks to sink a battleship. This is on a team that's already in the playoffs every year, and is competing without their best player.

Martin may not be in Sac's plans, but he's not nearly as replaceable as a guy like Landry, who was going to lose his role once Yao came back anyway. Luckily Sac has Evans and so most would agree they did well. But it's a full house vs a straight flush.

Suprised more people aren't talking about the Kings...they have a very good core of players.

Tyreke Evans
Donte Green
Carl Landry
Jason Thompson
Spencer Hawes
Omri Casspi

Not to mention another lottery pick this year, plus they now have the money to spend on a Max contract. They probably won't get a Top FA, but if they can lure a good player like Boozer or something and add another piece in the lottery, they are headed in the right direction.

Wow did Don Walsh screw up the draft this past year. He turned the no. 8 pick into cap relief, all so he can try to sign two big FAs? Which big FAs will want to go to a depleted team with new leadership who just showed they don't know what they are doing in the draft? I think this is just another debacle for the Knicks. I wouldn't be shocked if they end up like the Bulls did back post-Jordan when they where shunned by McGrady and Duncan.

They really are just relying 100% on people leaving about $30 million on the table from their current team, to come play for a team with ZERO talent. They are just banking on people being drawn to NY for the fame even though the team will be bad for a couple years. These guys are all entering their prime (Classes of 03, 04, etc.) why would they want to start over again.

I've been listening to New York radio today and they really think Lebron told the Knicks he is coming which is why they did this trade. Like the truly believe there is a under the table deal

I love Landry, and he is going to be a great pair with Evans, no doubt, but Houston wins this hands down. Look at Diop's post. The Rockets got a goto scorer (their current options are Ariza (yikes) and Battier (wha??)), a guy that can defend and a low post guy that can move into a Landry type role. Then they got enough good picks to sink a battleship. This is on a team that's already in the playoffs every year, and is competing without their best player.

We shall see how this pans out. Like I said before, martin has only been relevant for 4 seasons, three of which he missed significant time due to injury. Martin can score yes, but thats about the extent of his as a player. Hes not a good rebounder, defender or playmaker, and will spent a lot of time in a suit on the bench.

We will see how these picks go. Eventually they will get a pick, but I could see the knicks getting somewhere between 6-12 in 2012.

The kings got some cap space and a nice big man for a player that had no future for them. It really depends what houston ends up getting from the knicks pick. If they squander it, sac wins this trade hands down.

Windy said that a player could take a few less so that they could get 2 stars in, but we'll just have to see who's willing to do that. LeBron talks about stuff like pairing with Bosh and Wade, but it's only talk like LeBron talking to Amare and him talking to Jason Kidd. The month of June will say a lot to him...

I am so glad Daryl Morey is our GM. He always pulls this stuff. We are spoiled :D
