The futures took a sharp dive starting aboard 9pm when people first started realizing Trump could win. They bottomed out and had already nearly completely rebounded by the time he was declared the winner. Had it not rebounded, the markets certainly would have opened sharply down.
I went to bed about 3-4 hours before it was declared. Hadn't found an article that talked about a rebound.
It's really scary how many nearing retirement age adults have little knowledge of the market; I feel like my parents are in total terror, and rightfully so, of retiring. They are largely unprepared, and ultimately lost big chunks of 401k in the recession that should have rebounded, but probably had poor stock/fund choices.
