I have been a big proponent of getting Fisher. Dunno if he would be interested, but I think Kyrie could learn a lot from him. He has also worked in an offense like ours where the point guard sets up the play but doesn't always have the ball. Sometimes I wish we held on to Baron somehow.
Agree Cavatt. Maybe Baron's knee wouldn't be mangled if he stayed. It would be unrealistic to ask Dan to take on the contract for the remaining 24 million left on Davis' contract, so I understand why they amnestied him. If Dan were crazy enough to pay the remainder of that contract it would create "a salary cap black hole" (good thing) when Davis contract was up and we'd still have our get out of jail free card from the future punitive luxury taxes in the new CBA.
That amnesty card is seriously underrated. It's best that you hold onto it as an insurance policy should your GM spend your precious cap on an underwhelming player with a huge contract. If you don't have the amnesty card, one wrong move and your dead.
Basically your going to need to maximize your cap efficiency with this new CBA. If you do like Minnesota and routinely give out stupid contracts, you accumulate dead weight, your cap efficiency suffers and the natural selection of the NBA casts you off into the drudges. Guys like Varejao improve your efficiency because he gives you mad production on the court, at a bargain of a price. That is why you simply DO NOT TRADE VAREJAO for pennies on the dollar.
His contract is amazing, he gets paid similarly to a guy like Nicholas Batum, only Varejao can give you 23 rebounds per game, 18 points, couple blocks, couple steals, countless 50/50 balls saved etc....... Get a guy like Anderson on your team and your efficiency using the cap (
good valued reasonable contracts that produce on the court) will soar and you'll have a leg up on a majority of teams in the league.
Varejao is worth much more than his on the court production, which by the way is amazing. He's 1st team all defense material right now. Varejao's worth is doubled because he produces immensely on the court at a bargain of a price. The Cavaliers should be selling to OKC one of Perry Jones III or Jeremy Lamb + the Toronto pick for Anderson Varejao and Boobie Gibson. Both players could provide key roles to OKC, who should be trying like hell to
WIN NOW. If we can get that Toronto pick, we need to do whatever, and that means swallowing the contract of Kendrick Perkins.
What better way to fuck LeBron than trading Varejao to OKC, plus we saw the good karma that happened with Baron Davis when we took a risk swallowing that contract A lot of pundits are saying that whoever has the #1 pick in this draft could very well trade it. The Cavaliers could have a serious shot at somehow trading multiple picks for the #1 selection and take Shabazz Muhammad.
OKC with Varejao is the best team in the league, I'm convinced of it .
Cavaliers with Kyrie, Dion and Shabazz Muhammad are legit, I'm also convinced of it.
