The Brian Hoyer thread...

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yes because nobody on Twitter has ever been wrong

Why did he stop? I dont recall.

I have no idea. When posters stop posting, they don't usually announce their reasons. There have been a few dramatic exceptions. Hope he comes back someday.

B00bie's been a tough read lately. A little too much piss, vinegar, and snark even for me...

It's an interesting dynamic on the other sports' areas of this board. The pissing matches are so much more passive-aggressive and constant. Makes it feel like every post has a loose script that needs to be followed before meaningful content can take place. It's been happening here the more the Browns have been losing, unsurprisingly.

I think in MYoung's case, he had an episode where he thought he just was too smart and wise to deal with other peoples' opinions.

He was pretty smart, but near the end, the snark got palatable. I think he just grew tired of this place in his own way.

Sitting here wondering what Hoyer's future is going to bring him. Sitting here as more of a 'pro-Johnny' than a 'pro-Brian' Browns fan but wondering if we should've kept playing Hoyer, leaving a not-so-ready Manziel on the bench until next year. Sitting here wondering 'what if' Hoyer made that play or connected on that pass, would things be different at this point in the season? Sitting here wondering why the best Brown's start to a season in 30+ years turned into another wasteful, shambolic, and to-be-forgotten Browns football season.

Sitting here wondering and wondering like we do every season... Will we ever stop wondering 'what if?'

no, and that has and continues to be the problem. the organization and the fans should have been behind hoyer, 100% especially after they took the lead in the North. My ideal offseason is the browns sign hoyer to a 2-3 year extension, trade manziel for whatever they can fucking get for him, and go draft a real prospect of a QB. Then publicly state they are behind hoyer 100%, and that borrowing unforseen circumstances hoyer will be the QB for the year.

Speaking of Tiers. I have established Hoyers Tier on converting 3rd downs. Its hard for an organization and Fans to 100% support a guy who isnt doing anything to support himself.

Hoyer' s last three weeks were very bad, aside from the killer final drive against Atlanta. He is going to be shelved for the rest of the season no matter what. I think if Manziel gets hurt we are more likely to see Connor Shaw.

That said, I am pretty sure the franchises interested in signing Hoyer are very interested in how Manziel fairs with this supporting cast the next few weeks. It gives frame of reference for what was on Hoyer and what was out of his control.

“I’ve been a backup before. I know how to prepare and be ready,” said Hoyer, who took zero reps with the first team in the practice week.

Slight jab?

I dont see how it can be construed as a Jab. Manziel came into the buffalo game prepared and ready by all accounts. Hoyer however had 15 weeks and most of the reseason reps with the starting unit. that being said Hoyer is a good backup quarter but outside of that one play that was more about blow coverage he instantly reminded everyone why he was benched in the first place

Sadly, Hoyer is probably the Browns best option at QB again next year. With the return of Mack, I'll be able to stomach it if they get a top WR..

Cluegiver, keep personal stuff out of it.

I doubt Hoyer will be returning. His prime has come later than many QBs, but he needs to go to the highest bidder with this contract. Somebody is going to pay him to be a stopgap starter / mentor while a rookie learns and matures. It would be great if it happens in Cleveland, but I don't think Manziel and Hoyer should coexist on the roster another year.

Finally, it takes the starting QB going down before they put in someone who can be a threat on the ground.
