The Cavs and the salary cap

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Could the Cavs absorb Kyle Singler's contract into TPE and shoot the Thunder rights to Cedi Osman for the 21st pick?

Who the fuck wants Kyle Singler? As a wiser man than myself once said, he makes Justin Bieber look like a hardass.

Coincidentally, both Singler's salary for 16-17 and the Dunleavy TPE are worth the exact same amount, so yes, that is legal.

Very underrated point about our ringchasers being a bust.

Then you also realise there's something fundamentally wrong with our player development when you look at Golden state who retooled their bench with guys like McCaw and McGee while we buried potential contributors like Derrick on our bench. Damn Lue once again. No vision for player development or roleplayer roles. Same goes for our FO

Also helps that the likes of Zaza and David West took huge discounts to support their stars while our support guys are looking for the biggest payday possible. The more I think about it the more I realise how badly we (players, coach and Front office) contributed to our current situation.

Player development of younger guys is not so easy when you have to roll with these punches:

JR gets injured
Tade for and have to integrate Korver
Love gets injured
Have to integrate Derrick Williams
Have to integrate Deron Williams
Bogut signs and breaks his foot in one week
Love and JR return, have to adjust rotations

It wasn't exactly the most stable of years.

Jeff Green would fit this but he probably will get offers better than the minimum from some teams.
Saw some stat on Green that said every team hes been on has actually been better with him off the court than on.

The guy couldn't explain why because Jeff Green isn't a bad player

I saw this too. I feel like Jeff Green is one of those players that has the athleticism and size that coaches want him to be a top 4 player on their team and the fact that he was a high draft pick. The good thing about coming to the Cavs is we have the scoring and Big 3 that we can really play to guys strengths and really let them settle into the role player role.

I would be looking at highly drafted players that have fall out from bad teams because they have been asked to do too much. Guys that are age 26-29 and the league doesn't see them with star potential anymore, yet they haven't figured out to be a role player yet. At least we know they are in or heading into their prime and have the high level athleticism we need.

My list so far from the free agent list I've seen. Trey Burke, Shelvin Mack, Terrence Jones, Jeff Green, Thomas Robinson, Ty Lawson, Ben Mclemore, Anthony Morrow.

Guys to keep an eye on, just in case their current teams move in another direction and they are left out in the cold: Darren Collison, Derrick Rose, and Wayne Ellington (has a July 7 option date so the heat could make big moves then dump him to make room)

Let's just admit it, we fucked up not signing Lance Stephenson. Given how abysmal our bench is and how in need we were of a 3&D player with some attitude, that guy may have been a difference maker.

I think Lance is more than a 3 and D player and that's why I think he would have been a difference maker. He has a fairly well rounded game that if he is excelling at any particular aspect it's just one less thing on Lebron's shoulders. You see this with PG13 and Lance, whatever Lance is doing well during a game, PG13 can then focus on other areas to help the team.

If we could have picked up Lance and Terrence Jones when they were waived, I think we would have been in such a better position during the finals. Both those guys filled the size and athleticism gap we lacked against the warriors.

The thing about Jeff Green is that he looks like an NBA player, but isn't any good. Bad shooter, low efficiency everywhere he has played, whether with relatively high usage or average usage. Pretty much all his stats are bad. Badly run franchises like Orlando end up with players like him, and their teams get worse when they end up playing him a lot.
