As I read some people comment on the depth of the Bulls along with the media perception that they have such a deep team, I have a hard time understanding why this is supposedly an advantage against the Cavs.
They mainly use Gibson, Mirotic, Brooks and Snell, compared to the Cavs playing TT, Shump, Delly and JJ. Now sure, in a vacuum if you played those 4 against each other the Bulls would likely win due to the offensive limitations of the Cavs bench guys. But with how each of the players are used in conjunction with the starters, the offensive limits of the Cavs bench is pretty much a non factor. The only real advantage is Brooks over Delly.
I wonder what the narrative would look like if the Cavs started Moz-TT-Lebron-Shump-Kyrie and had Love and JR coming off the bench. Then suddenly everyone would be raving about how deep the Cavs were and what a great bench they had and the match up problems it would cause other teams.
Obviously I am not advocating for this type of change, its just funny to me that the way a teams bench meshes with its starters is not a part of the conversation when discussing team depth.
