The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number Thread (2012 Playoffs and Ping Pong Balls)

Re: The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number Thread for Most Ping Pong Balls in May 2011.

My question is does the fact that the Timberwolves beat us both times give them any advantage? Like in the playoffs, if two teams have the same record, they look at their head-to-head. So does the fact that the Timberwolves beat us both times make us "worse" in the standings should a tie in their records occur?

I saw a post earlier saying that if two teams finish with the same record that the number of lottery balls is split evenly between the two. I just wonder if the head-to-head matchup means anything in the lottery.

it means squat.

I think I'm a little more concerned with the Clippers pick possibly dropping 2 or 3 spots. After Irving there really isn't a ton of difference between the players in the 2-6 range. The chance to still get a quality player at #8 is pretty good too. Beyond that point though the talent level drops and more risk is involved. I see a pretty big difference between the 8th and 10th pick.

Saturday night I'll really be rooting for the Bucks to beat the Cavs.

Zac Jackson

Tweeting recent NBA Lottery results = worst argument ever. Even LeBron is smart enough to know 25% > 19 % every stinking time.

sums it up pretty well....let's hope the Wolves win at least one more time

so is anyone else nervous about not getting the worse record and the most ping pong balls? I know I am. You would think that after a 26 game losing streak we would probably have assured ourselves the worse record, I guess it just goes to show you how bad the twolves really are. Go Cavs!!!

No, because anyone worrying about something that takes luck (it's a lottery, unless it's rigged, it's luck) is truly not enjoying the sport of basketball.

Mr Gorbachev, tear down this thread!!!

Wow...bittersweet night. We beat the Raptors!!! That's great, right? Well, yes and NO. We now have to lose the last 4 games of the season to even be tied with the lowly T-Wolves, who are going to finish the season with a 15 game losing streak.

BUT....The Clips lost a close one, and the Bucks beat the Heat!!! That is like 25 doses of good news...3 at the very least. The Clips lost, the Bucks won and the effing Heat lost...at home!!

I don't see how we don't move past the TWolves now. The wizards have only won 2 road games all year (I know one was against us) and are sitting 6 of their players. I just hope the basketball gods reward us for playing hard to finish the season while the t-wolves pulled their tank job. Do they even get their own pick or did they trade it to the clippers?

Re: The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number Thread for Most Ping Pong Balls in May 2011.

This is starting to suck. We can't even get the worst record right. I just want that worst record because the drop off between the 1st 4 picks and lets say, pick 5 is big and that is bad for us. The Clippers or the Wolves aren't doing anything for us for that matter. I just want the worst record more than anything. In my opinion, the difference between Irving, Williams, Terrance Jones, or even Walker compared to the 5th pick is a huge drop off in my opinion. I just hope the basketball gods look kindly down upon us and get at least one maybe even 2 top ten picks. Here's a break down of the team's remains records.

It is absolutely amazing to me how bad the Wolves are. We lost 26 freaking games in a row. We were pretty much unwatchable all season long until a month or so ago. The Wolves have Kevin Love dropping 20 and 15 every night. AND they are still worse than us. WTF

Re: The Cleveland Cavaliers Magic Number Thread for Most Ping Pong Balls in May 2011.

Here's our remaining schedule. We're sitting at 17-61:

Fri April 8th - vs Chi (loss)
Sat April 9th - @ Mil (winnable game)
Mon April 11 - @ Det ( winnable game)
Wed April 13 - Vs Was (winnable game)

so the schedule doesn't look good for us. I see 3 winnable games for us. The Bucks are playing like shit and I believe are only 1 1/2 games back from the Clippers for that 8th spot.

The Twolves play @ Denver, @ Phoenix and vs Houston to close the schedule. They will lose all 3 games. Maybe beat the Phoenix.

Shit, I just hope we can catch a break!

IMO we started playing better ball when we got Baron Davis and he has been playing 20 plus minutes in the rotation. He is a leader. I believe he has a few more good years left in him. If we get an Irving, Walker, Knight, he can be a teacher for them and another coach on floor. He is everything that Mo Williams tried to be. It would be nice if we sit him the rest of the year but BScott won't do that.

So frustrating. We can't even be the best at sucking.

They play in the West, where their will be a couple of winning teams not making the playoffs. We play in the East, where there might be two losing teams making the playoffs. Still, the Wolves are bad.

It is amazing when you look at Hollinger's rankings. Look at the bottom ten teams. All of the Western teams have SOS of over .500 while all the Eastern teams have a SOS of under .500.

Baron Davis has been fantastic. I was never a fan and was skeptical when we traded for him, but he's proven me wrong. It's amazing how much better he is at leading the team than Mo. He's like having another coach on the court, and he's going to be a great influence on the rookies next year.
