The decline of JJ Hickson

Yes, I'm sure the Cavs thought it was getting old too ... that's why they traded him.

When Hickson actually shows he can help a team win, then he'll get some credit.

We can take it for what it's worth but right now Hickson is 7th in the NBA in rebounding and 7th in the NBA in FG%.

Also should remember in any PF comparisons that one player was drafted 4th overall and the other was drafted 19th overall.

Really can't play the what if game though because the Cavs decided they weren't going to give Hickson a big contract and weren't interested in going forward with him as a major piece.

Also has a PER of almost 21 if you're into that sort of thing.

I have watched more that couple of POR games (cuz of Batum) and the reason his Rebs and FG are up is because his living strickly in the paint. I think his coach has forbidden him from taking a jumper, haven't seen him take any (remember when he said he wanted to shoot em like KG so he could get a max ?) and it has also translated to a lot of rebounds because he can jump HIGH.

Also one game he missed a box out and he was benched for the rest of the game.

this guy has far showed more promise than tristan has and is having a good year with a +20 PER, at least when he has the ball on offense, he somewhat of a clue

How many games have you watched? I've watched every Portland game for the most part this season. The Trailblazers have come out and said they have no drawn plays for him, so most of his points have to come off of offensive boards. Every game he shoots at least 2-3 jumpers a game, which is something he's also improved on

I'm glad Hickson has carved out a niche as a rebounder and had realized what his offensive game is, but let's not get crazy here. He'd be a great guy to have as your 3rd big, but he's no world beater.

Yet you're the one who waited 9 months to grave dig a thread regarding a player who hasn't worn wine & gold since April of 2011. If it wasn't for you, no one would be discussing Hickson in this thread heading into 2013.

I didn't wait 9 months to do anything. I saw the success JJ was having in Portland after a terrible year in Sacramento so I figured instead of creating a whole new topic about an ex Cavs player why not post in a thread that already existed. And why can't we discuss Hickson? We talk about Andre Drummond, Jonas Valanciunas and other players who were never Cavaliers all the time. Theres even have a Lebron Safari thread for crying out loud! A player who hasn't worn the wine & gold since 2010. So I don't understand why we can't talk about JJ especially since it's relevant to what that says about our gm Chris Grant who I'm not high on at all. But that's a whole nother discussion.
