Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I would be beyond shocked if he got traded for nothing other than a TPE.

He might get packaged with Morris to a willing team -- they are desperate to dump Morris and they don't want to keep Tucker (feeling is mutual, I'm sure). He'll get moved by the deadline to the highest bidder, IMHO.

Pj Tucker and Tony Allen are payed pretty much exactly what they are worth? Not a chance in hell we get them for just the TPE. And we don't have much in the way of assets...

Never rule out salary dumps when Robert Sarver is the owner. Dude was dumping firsts for money like it was nobody's business when the Suns were great in the SSOL days and only really missing a few more bench contributors.

According to bball reference Jeff Green has been a better midrange shooter then Morris and only a slightly worse 3pt shooter based on %'s. I don't think Markieff Morris is as good of an outside shooter as people believe him to be. His usage rate is also 26 %, which could imply that his offensive game is very similar to Love's (he is going to need the ball to be effective) and he is also a subpar defensive player.

The only thing that would make me believe Morris to be the better fit would be that he could possibly be better equipped on defense to protect the rim and matchup with a guy like Aldridge. It would worry me that the Cavs would have to distribute minutes between a guy like Morris and Love and not have a chemistry issue in the process.

Ive always questioned Jeff Green's motor. The guy has a ton of talent but just never fully lived up to it, he just seems like a passive player to me. I think first option would be to find a Shane Battier type player. But if it comes down to Morris or nothing Id take Morris too

I'd take Morris and Tucker, for sure. I could see that happening, and you may very well be right about them trading him.

I think the point is that Morris gives you a very similar midrange game (perhaps better), size, and actually can play defense. Green doesn't play defense whatsoever; the guy's advanced metrics are abysmal.

I find it hard to believe Jeff Green would even be a realistic option. I don't know how much Memphis would want to help the Cavs, but I think he could be a upgrade at the backup SF spot nothing else. However he isn't really a consistent 3 point shooter (not a 3d guy).

The only thing that throws me off about Morris is how the minutes would be distributed without him or Love being pissed off. I mean I think you have to play TT his minutes regardless of what happens. And would Morris be happy in Mozgov's current role? If he is then I would take a shot on him. Because in today's small ball era I think the Cavs really only need Mozgov as insurance at this point.

I have been pretty impressed with the Cavs defense even with Mozgov playing less then last season

Hornacek was quoted multiple times all year saying he did not like playing Tucker and Warren at the same time, and he views them both as SFs. Warren is the future in Phoenix. That has changed a little now that Bledsoe is out for the season, but it is telling about their plan for next year.

I think Morris would take Mozgov and RJ's minutes more than anything to do with Love.

I don't know how motivated they are to trade Tucker, but he is the player on PHX that I would want.

The trade that I have envisioned is Varejao for Morris, then Cavs absorb Tucker in the TPE sending back that protected second round Portland pick from 2020 that they just picked up. Tucker is the guy I would want. Morris is the price you pay, and then you hope you can rehabilitate his reputation and send him to a new team over the summer, if necessary.

Cavs can add the ~$2M+ they are still permitted to send out in trades. As someone else said, tempting Sarver with cash is usually a good strategy.

Do I think that trade is likely? No. But it might be conceivable and it's the one I would want to do.

Now if the Cavs were to experience an injury before the deadline, I would become more motivated to do that deal.

We're on the same page, and that trade is what I think Phoenix would want as well. I think the Cavaliers front office would prefer to deal for Tucker by himself, without Morris attached.

Sounds a lot like taking on JR to get Iman. And we all know how that worked out.

If we could get both Morris and Tucker, that could work out quite well.

Hate to let go of Andy, but I don't know if he can help us a ton any longer and I'm not sure Blatt is going to find out if he can, either.
