Re: Kevin Love

I think the original poster is a little off base. Windy said that Love is not on the market right now but in the future he could be because of cap restraints and the rift that is developing between the Wolves front office and Kevin Love. He was really just throwing Love's name out there. He also mentioned to look at teams such as Golden State who have massive contracts and don't want to get stuck paying the luxury tax. Nothing is imminent as Windy does not know for sure who could potentially be on the block in the next year. Just throwing some possibilities out there. Rizzo couldn't figure out why the Cavs were accumulating all of these "assets" if they were just going to be mid round 1's. That's when Windy began to explain the Houston situation and how they turned those into Harden. Thus, Kevin Love's name came up as a potential Harden type deal.

Re: Kevin Love

I'll try to explain it better like Hawkins did next time

Re: Kevin Love

Waiters is currently one of the better spot-up shooters in the league. He just hasn't learned how to move without the ball yet to get himself open for more spot-up attempts.

Also, I'd much rather have two alpha players than one alpha and a bunch of role-players. We tried that route with LeBron and it failed miserably.

Dion is an alpha player? He might have an alpha mindset, but he is far from an alpha player. Regardless, no one is advocating dumping him for nothing. We would package him with other assets for an all-star.

Re: Kevin Love

Granger expires next year, though, and Indy only has 48 million in committed money next year.

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/indiana.htm

I just don't see them moving George, at least not before this summer.

I think we've got a much better shot at Love. He wants out of Minnesota, the front office has a poor relationship with him, and he's hurt.

Yeah but you're forgetting that David West is a free agent after this season and he's the key cog to that team. Sure, they'd love to move Granger but his 14+ million dollar salary probably makes him immoveable and you can really maximize your returns on someone like Paul George......

Re: Kevin Love

lmao, Paul George isn't going anywhere.

Re: Kevin Love

Klay Thompson is available ??? I'd give them out 1st this year for him .. Young , tons of upside, proven commodity

Re: Kevin Love

I think Waiters is a future 6th man...That said, all great teams have a great bench.

I think your last point is key. A guy that can either score a bunch of points off the bench OR start is extremely valuable. Plus, I know Dion is only averaging a little more than three assists a game, but man, can he distribute. When he drives and dishes, it is a thing of beauty. I swear he'd be averaging 5 assists a game if we could finish better inside.

No he is not available. Windy gave an example of a team who already has a ton of cap space committed to some guys and don't want to go into the salary tax and a player like a Thompson could be available down the road when he's up for a contract extension because they could not afford to keep everybody. It's like the OKC harden trade and the Memphis Gay trade.

Re: Kevin Love

Just listened to the Windy podcast. Is Rizzo always this clueless about the NBA?

yes...Chris Fedor was the voice of reason on that station in regards to the NBA that's all you need to know...

Windy was his usual patient and knowledgeable self, but you could tell even he was getting frustrated with some of the stuff Rizzo was saying. Nothing worse than him stating something as fact, when it's really just completely wrong.

Re: Kevin Love

I think it really depends what Minnesota is looking for. That package from the Bulls doesn't make them a contender. It may not even make them a playoff team in the loaded West. Plus, that deal you proposed wouldn't come close to working financially. Boozer alone is making as much as Love, and Deng makes only slightly less.

If Minnesota does deal Love, there's a good chance they may value financial relief and draft picks more than mediocre, overpaid veterans like Boozer and Deng. We could provide that relief with Walton and Gibson (both expirings), and we could provide plenty of draft picks to give Minny assets going forward. If Minnesota were to deal Love for expirings and draft picks, they'd have a ton of financial flexibility going forward. Without Love on their payroll, they'd have only 4.5 million in guaranteed money in 2014/15.

Theres no way they trade an injured love i think he gets traded at draft or next deadline. Bulls still have alot the bobcats pick is a gurenteed top5 pick barring a miracle and butler is averaging 14-7 last 10games and is looking like a very good players.

I think OKC would get in also with ibaka,lamb, and the raptors pick. Thats an all star player and 2 good prospects

The Cavs still have more. It just depends on how much they're willing to deal......

Wolves are gonna have a great deal between us and the bulls they will make us battle for loves service.

Bulls= deng,butler,mirotic,gibson,noah,bobcats 1st
Cavs= waiters,TT,zeller,1st

Re: Kevin Love

What was Rizzo saying that was so wrong?

He was sick of hearing about all of these "assets" with nothing tangible to hang our hats on. I agree with that, and there is nothing wrong with wanting that tangible carrot at the end of the stick so to speak.
