Re: LeBron in the heart of Cleveland tonight playing rec ball at the Word Church...

I hear ya. I'm in no way a LBJ apologist. I just think we hate him wayyyyyyy more than he hates us. He found the best opportunity to advance his career, like all of us would in our respective fields. He just went about it horribly and has paid for it this past year. He's had awful advice around him for a long time too.

I for one, think I've moved on.

Pretty sure most of us have moved on. The only time you hear most Cleveland fans bitching about him is either a) when he talks, as more than likely, something stupid follows and/or b) the media brings it up for the gazillionth time.

I'm so sick of the "awful advice" argument too. Damn, can't anyone make any damn decisions for themselves anymore? I understand the need to ask for advice, etc, but ultimately it comes down to you, nobody else.

Besides, it was reported right away that Savannah didn't want to move, so obviously she didn't get a say. And IIRC, there were a couple ppl in his entourage pleading with him to stay.

Re: LeBron in the heart of Cleveland tonight playing rec ball at the Word Church...

Advance his career by becoming the most hated athlete? Advance his career by surrounding himself with a player that needs the ball (just like him) to do anything effective and Soft Bosh. Until he wins a title, he didn't advance anything.

Bitter much?

Maybe it's just seeing the ex and she looked gooooood tonight so all the feelings came back lol #NoHomo
But seeing she just wants to be friends while she makes out with her new man in public lol.

The little part of you wants to still be cool with her because all the good times were GOOD times...smh

Re: The guy who wears #6 in Miami

I also remember a while back about how much money the decision would cost him long term. I wonder how much Nike, Gatorade, etc. hates his move... if any.

LeBron James Mind-Boggling Free Fall Continues
Thursday, July 14, 2011 7:54 am
Written by: Ben Maller

Taking his talents to South Beach might have helped his sun exposure, but popularity is another story.
According to bombshell survey results, U.S. sports fans don't think much of LeBron James. The "King of Zero Rings," is no longer ranked among the top 10 most popular athletes in America.
The Miami Heat star was ranked third in 2009 and sixth in 2010, while playing in chilly Cleveland. Now, despite winning the Eastern Conference title, he's on the outside looking in.
LeBron joined former Vikings QB Brett Favre, Saints QB Drew Brees and NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt Jr. among athletes whose popularity has taken a hit.
Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant and retired legend Michael Jordan all finished in the top 10, ahead of James.
Yankees star Derek Jeter edged out Colts QB Peyton Manning to finish atop the survey. Interestingly, Jeter finished tops with men, while Manning was No. 1 with women.
The Harris Poll results are based on 2,163 adults surveyed online in June.

Give Lebron credit for anything on this board and you will be called a Lebron apologist. Same happned to me this morning. I think its still going to be a few years before we can actually talk about all that he did for the Cavs franchise without anger getting in the way

I'm so sick of this misconception. I don't mean to take this out on you, but I can guarantee every real cav fan in here who knows their basketball, will give LeBron all the credit in the world for being a great athlete, and one of the best in the game. (Even though he has yet to improve his FT% or 3pt%, and has yet to develop a consistent mid-range or post game)

Nobody is denying that he's taken this franchise to heights it's never seen (NBA Finals), but you're acting as if the guy led us to multiple championships or something.

Fact is we have just as many rings after his stay here than we did before he came here. That's all that matters. Nobody looks at Division Championships in the NBA, people forget who made it to the Finals when they did, unless they're consistently reaching that level or it's your hometown team.

Besides the 1 season where we overachieved, LeBron didn't lead the Cavalier franchise anywhere that Price/Daugherty/Nance/etc didn't lead us.

Just because we choose not to talk about the positives about LeBron's game, doesn't mean we don't realize he's one of the best. You're severely underestimating the knowledge of this board.

I'd appreciate no further quotes of this douchebag. The fact that ti's taken 2-3 more pages of posts to get through to him is enough for me.

but hey, Z didn't win us a ring, so he's shit. I'm curious what shithead thinks of the retired numbers around the league, which I'm sure he has no idea about.

I think the real story is Peyton Manning beating out Derek Jeter in the hearts of women...

What say ye Pip?

Re: The guy who wears #6 in Miami

Yeah, Perkins being traded, Shaq being hurt, and Rondo playing with one arm had NOTHING to do with it....

And the Cavs pummeled a similar Chicago team the year prior(Rose in our playoff series was as good as Rose was in his MVP season) only difference being Loozer(he wouldn't have swung a 4-1 Cavs victory any though.

The big difference was Vinnie Del Negro .vs. Tom Thibbodeau.

People forget who won championships as well and all the W-L records reset to zero every October.

If rings are all that matters, I with all seriousness suggest you get another hobby. :(

Really? So people forget that the Celtics have 17 championships? Or that the Bulls 3-peated twice? Or that Phil Jackson has 11 rings?

I couldn't care less if records reset every October.. all I care about is seeing a championship banner being hoisted in the Q, and the fact remains that we have yet to see that, no matter how many highlights the guy may have given us.

Man, 3 Division 'ships & a Finals appearance, and some act as if our drought is over... Not saying you, Jon.

No, people remember the dynasty teams for a while, but I still doubt the Bulls success under Jordan was much of a comfort to Bulls fans who had to wait 7 years just to see their team get the boot in the first round.

You set the bar awfully high for a town that never saw anything resembling a dynasty until the Brown's in the 1950's, and haven't since.

Yeah for a while we hung our heads high that the Browns were the winningest team in NFL history, but as the league switched to the Superbowl format, and the Superbowls kept coming and going without a Browns team in them ... it stopped meaning anything.

Talking about Otto Graham, Marion Motley, and Dante Levelli these days ... you might as well be talking about the glory that was George Mikan and how he really elevated the Rochester Royals ....

Good luck with that... :(

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a very good portion of the championship teams in the NBA are dynasty teams.

Well, of course not, fans always want a championship in the present, but it's still remembered. They have their taste of 6 friggin championships still fresh in their minds, even though it was 13 years ago now.

Actually, I'm very proud & take great pride in knowing how successful the Cleveland Browns once were. Sorry, but it still has meaning, to me, and to most hardcore Browns fans. Am I disappointed we've never been to a Super Bowl? Of course, I wouldn't be a fan if I wasn't. But that doesn't take away what they've accomplished in the past. They're still my team, past, present, and future. Nothing changes that.

Sorry if I won't settle for a couple Division championships & an Eastern Conference title in 7 years...

You act as if we've never seen Division titles or Conference/League titles before, as a city.

Re: The guy who wears #6 in Miami

The closest comparison I can come to Lebron and Cleveland is the Indians in the 90's. The Tribe was great in the 90's, probably one of the best teams ever assembled in baseball history that never won a Championship. The Indians never won a World Series but I will always remember them as the greatest team I have seen here in Cleveland. The Cavs and Lebron could have been a close second. Started off the same way as the Indians and had the same dominant seasons over the rest of the league. The only problem was they didn't win anything. The thing that really hurts the Lebron Era in Cleveland is the way he left. For that reason I think alot of people will never remember how great they were. Players come and go but teams (sometimes) last forever.

I don't believe you have a choice in the matter, unless your last name sounds like Filbert ...
