The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

So we got to see Sir Friend Zone get exiled finally. Things are setting up nicely for him and Tyrion to meet in Volantis. Do you think D&D will put anything in the show about Talisa's parents, considering she was from Volantis?

I'm wondering where Sansa goes next season seeing as how we're essentially caught up to the books at this point. Bran will be caught up as well I imagine after episode 10. Will be a crazy season in terms of new material.

Missandei > Dany

by a fucking mile

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

Reading Westeros.org makes my head hurt. Dudes on the forums upset because certain lines got cut out or clegane didnt kill the spectator, saying Oberyn should have yelled more...like...wow. Next time somebody on here claims we nitpick too much as book fans needs to head over to that shithole.

Re: The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread

I think it's funny that the people there constantly complain about the show's lack of subtlety, then bitch and moan about the beetle scene being pointless. :chuckles:

would be cool if somebody who read the books could help me out (DON'T read it if you're not a reader of the books):

i couldn't resist and read some spoilers in regards to what's gonna happen with Tyrion. so he's gonna murder his father and Shae and then escape (that's where i stopped reading). here's my question: will he be a big part of the story moving forward? i'm only watching the TV show and he's among my favorite characters so i hope he continues to get a lot of screen time.

To answer your question without spoiling anything, yes, he will still be a big part of the story. He had a ton of chapters in the latest book, A Dance With Dragons.

Also, this is the book spoiler thread, so you don't need spoiler tags for your posts in here.

Dude, I didn't read the books but I know a lot because I come in this thread. For crying out loud, TyGuy thought Oberyn was Daario in the other GoT thread.

I can't live in that thread. It was garbage to begin with, but that post just killed it for me.

Never forget...the smug superiority of book readers is not entirely without merit. :chuckles:

No shit, had someone @ me on twitter and tell me Oberyn's fate. For no reason, but just to be an asshole. I don't even hashtag and he somehow found me.

Yeah, a lot of book readers like to ruin it and say "You should have read the book 10 years ago."
I had the first book, but I stopped because I didn't want to really know what was to come next. For the most part, I love surprises and this is why I will not read the books. But I'm also curious about specific characters. A lot of these spoilers don't necessarily ruin it for me. I just really thought Oberyn was going to win that. It just sucked that I had to be told on twitter by someone who just wanted to be an ass.

Carry on...

Well, there's a difference between being smug and being an asshole. I never spoil the major moments for my friends that watch the show. It's more fun to get their shocked reactions after anyway.

You wouldn't be surprised if you read the books? What you seem to be saying is you just prefer a visual medium for a story.

Which is actually how I am too but some stories just transcend that preference, for me. This is one of them.

Anyways, like you, I was rooting for Oberyn. Now we have to watch Gregor Clegane go on and live a nice, prosperous life. Dangit.

Spoiler Chris -

Oberyn's blades had poison on them. Clegane is going to die an excruciating death because of it.

I'm a very visual person, who genuinely loves surprises. Reading the books took that away from me, so I stopped reading.

Yeah, I know...I was being facetious. :chuckles:

Posthumous justice.

I'm assuming that the squire wiping the weapons with a cloth was supposed to be the subtle hint at Oberyn poisoning his weapons. I'm trying to remember that from the books, all I recall is Tyrion seeing a glint on the end of his spear or something before the batle and wondering if it had been poisoned.
