The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I can't wait to see pseudo evil Tyrion.

I say pseudo because. .. can anyone blame him for it? A man can only take so much before he snaps.

Of note, the whole poison debate is put to bed. D&D straight up say that Gregor was poisoned. A lot of other good bits in there too.

I've mentioned this before, but for some reason I really like the Bolton stuff. Roose is a great character. You had that Simba moment, everything the light touches is your kingdom Ramsay, haha

I think part of the reason that whole beetle speech was included is so that later when he gets really dark and stops caring about others, you have something to compare it to. Him picking up that little bug and letting it go will seem pretty symbolic of his state of mind when you compare it to him pretty much raping an emotionally dead whore in Volantis, or where ever and threatening the life of the bed slave in Pentos.

I just watched it, and didn't hear them say anything about poison...

I know Gregor was poisoned in the books, I just wonder if they're keeping that in the show.

I hate what they say about Littlefinger in that video. He just comes off like some schmuck who tossed Lysa out the Moon Door on a fucking whim. Littlefinger always has a damned plan, and it's ridiculous to think he wouldn't have planned everything out before giving Lysa the shove. He never would have done it if he thought he would die as a result, or without at least telling Sansa what she needed to do.

He flat out says near the very end of the video, "He's got a spear in his gut, he's poisoned." Or something similar.

didn't catch this the first time around, check out the glance between Jamie and Varys before the fight...

Chris, as a huge nerd myself, I bought this shirt a while back and it was delivered last week:

I guess I was listening for him to actually go into detail, not two words ... :chuckles:

:chuckles:

The best part is like, two people would get the reference.

I used to have a Stark and a Lannister shirt, actually, and somebody stopped me at the gym to talk Thrones. God I felt like such a nerd but since I was at the gym lifting weights it offset the nerdiness a bit. I'm one of those dudes that is into sports, working out, and all that manly shit...but then I go home and hop on Diablo 3 or read A Game of Thrones. :chuckles: We all have an inner nerd I think.

Believe it or not, I've worn the shirt twice now and had at least four different people (that I don't regularly discuss Thrones with) say something about it, all of which were at bars. :chuckles:

That's pretty dope.

I'm a little surprised by how popular the show has become. Seems the casual viewer would have a hard time following it, and not enough actual action to enjoy it consistently. Been a pleasant surprise.

That makes no sense. They specifically had Shae betray him in the trial so that he can be bitter enough to kill her in two weeks. I'm sure the Tysha scene will proceed as it did in the books. Tyrion's turn to the dark side can't happen properly without that.

The specific part I'm wondering about is Tyrion, in anger, lying to Jaime and saying he killed Joffrey. I could see them doing that Tysha scene and have Tyrion's anger focus entirely on Tywin, not Jaime.

No idea where you get that. Why would they even bring it up multiple times in the show even though the last reference was last season if they dont intend to use it in that scene? What could Jaime possibly say about Shae that makes Tyrion turn on him?

How many times have they brought up Tysha? All I remember is from season one when he's playing that game with Shae and Bronn. MAYBE 1/10 show watchers would be able to tell you who Tysha was if you asked. My opinion is that he's not going to turn on Jaime in the show version. Hope I'm wrong. The actors might be able to pull off a Tysha scene with almost zero build up.

I understand the set up with Shae and her death. I just think his dark side is going to come from Shae's betrayal of his love, the fact that he was driven to murder and the bitterness he feels from the whole situation. Keep in mind that there was genuine love in the show with Shae. The Tysha plot device existed in the books to give Tyrion that constant reminder of love lost, something that can be potentially replaced by Shae, albeit in a different way. I want the Tysha piece to remain intact... just have my doubts based on what we've seen thus far.

They can easily remedy the viewers not knowing who Tysha is by showing the clip of Tyrion talking about her in the "Previously On" segment. They've done that several times this season already, reminding viewers of things from earlier seasons that were probably mostly forgotten by non-readers, like Jorah being a spy.

By the way, is Balon ever going to fucking die on this show?

Probably not til next season. I imagine that's how they'll lead into the king's moot.
