The Official Game of Thrones [A Song of Ice and Fire] Thread (includes spoilers)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Ian McShane was actually confirmed to be playing someone who has a scene with a "band of outlaws". Small part but of major importance according to WOTW.

In addition, they're casting a theatre troupe, which seems to confirm that they're doing Arya's "Mercy" chapter from TWOW... which seems pointless since they achieved that story's conclusion last season.

More Arya murder/vengeance porn dude. Show needs it.

I heard McShane is playing Randall Tarly.

Also, Euron was cast. It's this Danish dude. He definitely looks Greyjoy-ish.

Future show spoilers:

Sources report that today Game of Thrones is filming portions of a massive battle in Saintfield, Northern Ireland, that will likely be a part of episode nine. Preparations and the beginning of filming were seen in that area recently, but it was difficult to glean many details. We’ve learned that the battle will involve many northern armies fighting including the Umbers, the Boltons, wildlings and more! The true major spoiler is this: Kit Harington a.k.a Jon Snow was also seen at the location, participating in shooting this week. Harington has been spotted inBelfast again recently, along with Iwan Rheon, so it’s not too shocking Harington is filming Game of Thrones. Looks like Game of Thronesis planning another huge battle for the ever-important episode nine. I won’t call it the biggest one of all yet, not unless dragons show up. Have not heard anything about dragons showing up, alas.

Wow. Looks like Jon is back and joins the wildlings/Umbers to fight the Boltons? Assume he kills Ramsay? That's going to be incredible television.

What is the source of that quote, if you don't mind. Or am I just missing somewhere to click?

Sounds cool but confirms what a waste most of Season Five was. Spent a whole season clumsily establishing Jon's knifing and to cut Stannis out of his own ADWD and TWOW plot-line for no good reason other than D&D hate the character. Imagine how much better Season Six will be if they had actually built plots toward a climax rather than ignoring the Northern houses and starting from scratch narratively on the politics and intrigues going on amongst those looking to overthrow the Boltons. Waste of season.

All I know is handling of Stannis storyline is borderline asinine. When TWOW drops, it will only confirm this.

This next season is going to be a little surreal. I feel like we have all been theorizing about what could happen in future books for so long that to finally have an answer will be crazy, regardless of whether we like it or not.

It's one thing to theorize that Jon will come back from the dead and unite the Northern houses against the Freys and Boltons but its another to finally see that theory come to fruition. I imagine Rickon will also be involved. I wouldn't be surprised if Jon is fighting to place Rickon back in power as Warden of the North/King of the North. Rickon has been living with a wildling for the past year? (I actually don't know how long it has been) so maybe that could sway the wildlings, who are already seemingly devoted to Jon for saving their lives, to fight for Rickon. Although, it would make more sense in the book universe where the Wildlings think that the Boltons flayed the spearwives and Mance. That would definitely make them want to get some revenge.

I also really wonder what role the Greyjoys will have in the grand scheme of things. Their plot seems to touch a wide variety of different areas. Theon (and Asha) are in the North. They are pillaging up the western coast of Westeros and seem to be knocking on Oldtown's door (enter Sam into the equation). They also are going to have a huge impact on the entire Essos plot and Dany. I think King Stannis' point about the show just ignoring certain plots and then trying to jump start their narrative in one season (like the northern lords, as you mentioned) could also apply to the Greyjoys.

This entire season is going to be nuts. None of us have any idea what is going to happen.

Off topic, but I just finished Robin Hobb's new Fitz & the Fool book and I have to say, no one can write 650 pages of absolutely nothing happening quite like Robin Hobb.

"Huge" GOT spoilers from Kit Harrington

“Kit Harington, aka Jon Snow, was not only seen at the location, swoon-worthy Jon Snow hair and all, he also took part in the filming.

“Harington has been spotted in Belfast again with Iwan Rheon, who plays that bastard Ramsay Snow Bolton on the show.

“Last we saw Jon in the Season 5 finale; he’d been stabbed, apparently to death, by his fellow brothers of the Night’s Watch. My theory is that Jon Snow is truly dead, just like the actor and showrunners have claimed in endless interviews following the season finale. But with Melisandre (Carice van Houten) back at Castle Black, I think he will be resurrected.

“No longer held by his vows to the Night’s Watch -- having "died" and been reborn as Jon Stark -- he’ll now be free to leave the Wall and head south in order to search for his missing siblings and fight to retake Winterfell from the Boltons. But as I said, that’s just my theory.”

Harington seems to confirm as much in a new interview with the Belgian magazine Humo, as translated by Reddit:

Harington: The important thing is that I now know exactly how long I am still under contract, and in the meantime-

Interviewer: How many more seasons would that be?

Harington: Nice try (laughs). I can’t talk about that. Let’s just say that Game of Thrones will remain a part of my life for a while, I’ll probably be in my thirties when it’s over. One thing’s for sure: the day I’m no longer on Thrones is the day I’ll bury myself in movie projects (laughs).

Find the Watchers on the Wall website here.

I got it from AICN

Not actually that revolutionary but it makes sense for the shows narrative.

It's no longer an if, rather a how. I feel like the manner of how they bring him back and how he acts/behaves in the immediate aftermath is going to be so important. I'm really struggling with figuring out exactly how they'll do it.

TWOW will be out before next season airs, thus, we will know a lot more than we do now.

This belongs in a bold prediction thread. I want to believe. But I doubt it
