The PG of the future

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Cavs PG of the future has to have good quickness and be at least a pretty solid defender. Perimeter D has been a major problem for the Cavs. Quickness at the PG position has also been lacking. Sarunas has been playing well but D is not at all a strength in his game. He may have helped the Cavs a little in recent games but I don't think he'd make a huge difference.

The Magloire proposal is interesting. I think he's making about $8 million or so this season and I think has 1 year left after this one on his contract. He would bring some toughness to the frontcourt but quickness might be a slight problem in defending PF's.
I'd probably do this deal only if the Cavs came to the conclusion that they couldn't resign or didn't want to resign Gooden. Gooden has been playing pretty well and not been a major cause of the Cavs problems. Cavs would also have to be willing to pay to resign Magloire too and that could take a big contract.

"but with marbury at $16,500,000 and hughes at $10,800,000 and damon jones at $3,500,00 you are within the 25% match required by the current players association agreement. but there are dozens of other alternatives that could be considered.
yes, chemistry isssues are also important. but think how bad our chemistry will be if Lebron leaves for another team because we have never been able to provide him with a solid point guard."

Lebron is pretty content right now in Cleveland. In your above trade you are talking about trading away his 2 best friends on the team. Things may change, but as of right now these 3 are very tight on and off the court. So if you go trading away his boys after only 16 games you risk pissing him off....just a thought.

Personally I don't want any blockbuster trades involving our main core yet....although I'd part with Snow, Henderson, Hamilton, Jackson, Pavs, or Ira yesterday. Drew is on my maybe list for the right deal. We have to give Mike Brown a chance to do his thing. We have the second best record in the East and we are only a 1/5th of the way into the season. Give these guys a chance to play together and get some chemistry. We have 2 pretty good defenders that will be joing our team by the All-Star break. We have the draft and we have the MLE next summer, so we can always add some missing pieces in the off-season. No need to blow it up yet. Tweak it a little? Maybe

Max is right, no need to act now. Although the Magloire thing is interesting especially if it includes Charlie Bell. The real probelm is that we are not playing defense on the road like we do at home. We also shoot worse outside. I can understand the latter but not the former.

I am not sure I can tell why we play worse defense on the road, but we certainly do, and we get beat for it.

I suppose by defenders you are refering to AV and Ira. I am not convinced our road defensive problems are at the PF. And who are you going to replace with Newble? James or Hughes? both of those guys are playing 35 minutes or better, and jackson's defense is not bad.

I must admit, i'm intrigued by Magloire too.

I guess my point with Ira and AV was that they will only help the defensive situation. If Z is having difficulty with a quick PF-type Center, AV can try his hand at shutting the guy down....he certainly would have done a better job on Brand than Drew did. Ira is probably an upgrade defensively over Jackson if LJ or Hughes sits down or gets in foul trouble.

Yeah but we aren't falling behind when Jackson is in the game, we are falling behind when our starters are in the game. Ira won't help that and while I think Magloire may help that, Drew is not the weak link in that chain. I do think Magloire would be able to take on a Brand for example. Although Milwaukee fared no better than we, they did a better job of containing Brand and shut down Kaman than we did (but they got burned by Cassell and Maggete)
