So here is basically what I did in Tyranny:
- Sided with Graven Ashe because he seemed like a good general, whereas Nerat just seemed crazy and ineffective.
- Convinced Bleden Mark to meet me in a clearing and then killed his ass. Was kind of bummed about that one but I didn't really see any option in my playthrough to get him on my side, so he had to die.
- Put a blight on Azure and then killed Nerat with help from the Disfavored.
- Got Ashe to bend the knee and accept me as the ruler of the Tiers.
- Was found innocent at my trial by Tunon, who then decided that I was his new god and swapped to my side.
Tunon siding with me was really the only thing that I thought didn't make a lot of sense. I had a decent amount of favor with him, to be sure, and a decent amount of wrath as well. However, I had such limited interactions with him that his damn near instant decision to start working for me just felt out of nowhere. I must have talked a hell of a game at my trial. Ashe made perfect sense. It was pretty obvious he was getting senile and I had the respect of his entire army. I was kind of surprised he didn't make me fight him first, but it made sense either way.
I also felt like there weren't really enough companions. Yeah, the game isn't all that long, but there's just not a lot of variety there. I mostly just stuck with Barik (tank/DPS), Verse (archer), Lantry (ranged/healer), and myself (tank) and that seemed to be a pretty effective line-up. I also used the spell creation system to give everyone a health spell, which made life a hell of a lot easier in some of the tougher fights. I brought Siren with me for parts of the game, but generally speaking I stuck with the roster above.
I am probably going to replay the game to see what it's like siding with Nerat, and I read that you can take your missions from Bleden Mark as well, which I assume means you piss off both Ashe and Nerat to the point where neither wants to work with you. That one interests me, especially if there's a sequel where you can carry over your save. Having Bleden Mark on your side, and potentially as a party member, seems pretty damn useful.
