The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Started up Witcher 3 again and turned down the difficulty to Story and Sword. I'm thinking I initially stopped playing because it was too challenging (which is surprising because I usually play every game on it's highest difficulty).

No offense but I can not get into those games, The one I liked was Wolf Among Us. Out of sheer wonder why do you find these games appealing? I like them but it is hard for me to go back to them. The reason is I kind of want to try the Batman ones eventually and maybe I can find a concrete reason to do so.

Because Telltale writes great stories that I want to play through and experience. The gameplay sucks, sure, but I'm not there for the gameplay. I'm there for the fun, "choose your own adventure" style of their games.

Finished the fourth episode of Telltale's Batman. Another solid entry. This is probably my favorite Telltale series since Wolf Among Us, which remains my favorite. One thing I like here is that the past two episodes have had choices that actually felt like they mattered. There's a major decision you have to make at the end of this one, and I actually struggled with what I wanted to do. It's rare to see that in a game.

My only real complaint is that I didn't like the voice actor for the Joker, probably because I've spent my entire life hearing Mark Hamill's voice when I see an animated Joker. I understand he can't do the role forever, but I kind of just expect all other voice actors to mimic him because he was so fucking perfect. The Joker in this episode just did not do that. And to be fair, he's not really the Joker yet, and probably won't show up again until season two, so maybe his tone and delivery will change. Still, that's really my only complaint.

I did love the appearance of Two-Face's signature gun, and how his suit got halfway burned up in the fight with him. Just nice touches.

I also promised Joker to do him a favor once he gets out of Arkham, and I'm genuinely interested to see where that thread goes, even if it's not until season two.

Honestly, aside from the Joker's voice, this was a damn near perfect penultimate episode of an episodic series. It resolved the secondary plot thread in the season and built up nicely to the main one, which will undoubtedly take the focus in the final episode.

Witcher 3. Currently in Novigrad getting destroyed in Gwent. Is travelling back to Valen and playing people there the best way for me to get better cards? Can't seem to find people selling cards, but when I do I always try to buy all of the good ones. The best card I have is a 6.

Did you save Two Face or Catwoman? I went with Catwoman just because I figured he would have to become Two Face either way, but I'm wondering if it changes his character at all.

There's a bit of a learning curve with it. Honestly, I would just look up one of the Gwent card tracker sites so that you can figure out where to get specific cards (there's actually only a limited amount of cards in the game), as well as keep track of which cards you still need. That way you can figure out which cards you can acquire right now. Typically, you can get them by buying them from merchants or by playing against merchants/blacksmiths/etc.

I did the same because I too figured it wouldn't matter.

Yeah... I could see that the whole storyline would fall apart if his transformation didn't happen, so I figured might as well make the choice I did.

Maybe it changes how he views you in the scene from episode four where you go to talk to him. I went as Batman rather than Bruce, although at that point he hated both of us so it didn't really matter. :chuckle:

Yeah, gonna catch up on ep 4 this weekend, can't wait. I think the best thing Telltale has done with this series of games is to focus on Bruce Wayne as much as Batman. It really sets it apart from almost all other Batman stories except maybe some of the Nolan movies.

Yeah it's nice that your decisions as both characters seem to matter. It really feels a lot more like a comic arc than any other Batman game I've ever played. The Arkham games were amazing from a gameplay standpoint, but they lack a bit in the story department. The dialogue was great in the Arkham games, as was the voice acting (a little better than the Telltale series imo), but the overall stories tended to fall apart toward the end of each game. Still great games, but not quite as good story-wise as the Telltale episodes thus far.

I see the first chapter is available for free. I'll have to download it. Question though, how does it know what choices you made from chapter to chapter?

It just uses the data from your saved game. You load all the chapters through the same game, and additional chapters after the first are downloaded into the main game as an update.

Any games you guys suggest to get over the holiday season? I have an Xbox One. My newest games are Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2. I noticed they just rereleased Skyrim, which I have yet to play

Dishonored 2 has been really good so far. Got kind of sidetracked with Tyranny but the first few levels of Dishonored 2 were great.
