That's an easy one.....his haircut.

You can understand what he is saying.

I am not picking a side, I am just triyng to make discussion..

Jiri cost us a draft pick, true. Damon Jones's contract probably eliminates us from getting a good PG in next year's free agency.

Damon has his leg kick and makes hand signals on the rare occasions that he hits a 3. Those 2 things add so much to the Cavs.

I have to think that Ferry makes a major effort to move Jones this offseason. He's really not a fit and has already turned off most fans. It doesn't take long for Jones' act to wear thin. You can see why he only spends 1 season with every team he plays for.

I have to agree with Hollinger that Jones and Marshall have been disappointing. Donyell's shot has been way too inconsistent and he's relying on the 3 too much. He is an upgrade from last year's roster and has helped but he hasn't performed up to what was expected of him.
I have no problem with the Hughes signing. He was the best available FA that the Cavs could sign and played a major role before getting hurt even if his numbers were down from last year.

I think the biggest problem with the three specialists is that every body is hoisting them when we should be goin gto the hole. In some cases we are hoisting the three when it is not necessary. Twenty attempts per game is too many. It becomes an habit and a tough one to break.

tonight Gooden was the most effective weapon we had, and even he got owned inside when blocked by Delambert. Of course it helped that the refs weren't calling anything that did not draw blood.

The problem is that our FAs have the same problem that most of the players on the team other than Z and Lebron have: they are inconsistent. We saw that from Jones last year in the playoffs. You just never know what you are going to get, although from Jones it's been pretty much all-bad this first half if you take away 2-3 games. Tonight no one could make a shot- the brick parade was really bad from 3pt land again. At one point we were something like 2 of 16.

I thought what killed the Cavs tonight, though, was terrible PG play in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. When other teams are making a run, we need a PG to get in the middle and drive & kick, and both Snow and (ugh) Wilks just put no pressure whatsoever on the defense. Philly was just all over us on the perimeters and stuffed us like a pinata. I like Snow ok as a 20mpg guy who can still play good D and help the team in small ways, but when our offense stalls it seems like most of the time you can point right at the PG. Which is why Lebron often ends up playing point, which I personally do not like if it means he has to chase a little 6' guy around on defense.

Taiter make a good point as neither of our points are a threat to the middle. There is no drive and dish because niether is quick enough to do it eefectively. Sometimes I think it would be better to make lebron point overtly. With Snow and Damon ineffective we are playing offense two men down. Maybe that is why playing Pavs has helped. He can create off the dribble enuogh to draw some attention and open up the lanes for everybody else. Tonight you saw three defenders shading lebron when ever eh had the ball, and nobody else could score.

The entire team has to realize that the shot clock is short and that every second counts down to a turnover. Too often we are standing (Lebron included) flat footed dribbling trying to figure out what to do next.

HOW? We are over the cap with our without Damon - either way we have the MLE to spend on a PG. It's not like we could save money for next year. With the money we spent on damon, it was either use it or lose it. I can just imagine the posts I'd see on here if we came out of the offseason with $3 million of unused cap space that was going to just disappear next year due to players getting raises.

We arent over the cap yet..

But with Jones, and if we re-sign Gooden, we dont have any money to sign a quality free agent PG.

PGs that are good dont sign for the MLE..

Even without Jones and without resigning gooden (leaving a hole at PF), we only have the MLE next year. Our salary next year without either of them is approximately $47 million, which puts us over the cap. And we would be crazy to let Drew walk for nothing. How would you suggest filling the hole at PF?

Signing Jones had no impact on cap space. Keeping Drew has no impact. Either way we still have the MLE and a draft pick to upgrade the team with.

Signing Damon Jones to a multi year deal was a mistake. It was mistake even if he played in the same vein as he did in Miami. Four seasons was ridiculous for such a flawed player. The Cavaliers will be approaching luxury tax levels in the next few years, so every bad contract adds up.

Donyell has been disappointing. Personally I am a fan of this guy, but it just his ordinary shot selections that bother me. Obviously Brown has him camped out on the perimeter for a reason, but Marshalls inability to change things up have lead to a mediocre overall performance.

Larry was not playing overly well before he become inactive. Dispite this he was able to take pressure off Z and LeBron to create. He may have not personally played well, but he was making this team better.

As for Gooden, resigning him to a new deal puts us in that luxury tax area that we want to stay under.

it's only a mistake if Gilbert isn't willing to pay the luxury tax. He's building a $40 million practice facility - I doubt he's all that concerned about any luxury tax on Damon's salary. And this team would be worse off right now had we not signed Damon.

Cavs sign Steve Blake, or Eddie House, or Jannero Pargo and the cavs are pretty much where they are now. Difference being they would be off contract this year or next. Difference being there would be some occasional defense. Difference being there would not be any attitude problems.
