Check out what Tim Hardaway had to say about gay people.. (cavincali would be proud)

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17160685/

“You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don’t like gay people and I don’t like to be around gay people,” he said while a guest on Sports Talk 790 The Ticket. “I’m homophobic. I don’t like it. It shouldn’t be in the world or in the United States.”

Beat me to it I had it copied already..

Strong words..I hate when people apologize shortly after saying something touchy...don't apologize that's obviously how you feel why apologize about it and act like you're not homophobic and you don't really hate gay people...

I don't mind gays..like T-Mac said to each his own..just don't run up on me..

Strong words but nothing really wrong about what he said. Just his opinion which many have theirs like that.

Ameche will respond tomorrow morning on ESPN Radio I think. It was announced on SC. Either at 7 30 or 9.

As bad as it was, and as bad as it has hurt the possibility of him ever doing anything related to the NBA ever again, he said how he feels about the situation, just because his opinion is wrong, its his opinion, let him look stupid, "hate" is a powerful word, and is a word that shouldnt be used to describe any type of feelings towards any group/race/gender, because once you use the word, your going to be considered a bigot.

Whats sad is that there are many more NBA players who feel this way, but wont say it because of a fear of losing endorsments.

To me what he is saying is the same as saying, "I hate black people." When you are narrow-minded and ignorant enough to lump a certain group of people together and hate them because they are different, then you deserve to lose your right to be affiliated with the league.

And his half-hearted apology after the fact was priceless. He couldn't have sounded any less sincere.

I understand that he is probably speaking for ALOT of other players/people in general. BUT, it's a slap in the face that he (along with alot of others) can't get over certain things.

I guess he feels that ANY gay man is looking at him like they want him.

I know we're all entitled to our opinions, but the way he said it was (in my eyes) viciously said. .. And all this coming from a guy who played in San Fransisco!

His opinion opens up the doors to the same kind of hatred that racism is.

I'm sure old Timmy doesn't like racism or being treated or dispised because he is black but then he goes ahead and hates another group of people.
He shouldn't be congratuated for stating his opinion either, because even if you have a negative opinion of someone, you should keep it to yourself. I wonder if Tim is a hardcore chrsitian? I saw him on Joes VS Pros and his fat ass couldn't even keep some middle aged white guy from dribbiling to half court on him.

Too bad too, cause I used to roll with GS and Tim in NBA Live 95' for Sega.

The UTEP two step (his signature crossover) I'll never forget that, but now I'll remember him for being an ignorant jerk.

You can't compare it to being black.

You can't help being black, that is a race.

Gay people choose to be gay. To a lot of people, that is morally wrong.

You may not agree with that he said...I don't...but it's nothing near being a racist. His values or beleifs may lead him to beleive that way.

Whether people "choose" to be gay or not is an entirely separate argument.

But by your logic is it OK for people to hate a group of people based on their religion? Since they choose that and many people may find it morally wrong? Does that make it any less ignorant?

When did I say that? Don't put words in my mouth.

I just said it is not the same as racism. They chose to be like that, they should not be compared to any race, they don't know struggle like that.

I never once said it was ok to hate anybody, use some logic on that one.

It is like hating black people or any other person in the sense that you're already beginning to pre-judge them prior to knowing them and what they're all about....

Racism or Religion/beliefs is the non issue... It's hating based on what you initially think of the person(s) without the common knowledge of that person

I concur with that point. People do choose to be gay. It's nothing like being black, hispanic, or asian.

And if you say that people don't choose to be gay, then you can't say that people CHOOSE to be Racist either. I guess the racist people were born that way as well if we want to start that argument.
It's a weird tempation that they fall prey too. They are not born that way.

Wow. Just wow. You do not choose to be gay or hetrosexual! It something that is inside you, just like colour on the exterior. My god!

You can't say someone was BORN racist, it's a learned! If you have a parent who is racist and they drill it into your head, then you'll probably be the same way.

I believe that being gay is a chioce for SOME, not all... Especially transgender individuals. They've done studies on it, and there is more of the X or Y chromosome. In some cases, people do choose to be gay... But there are those who are born that way.

Saying you "hate" someone due to their race/sexual orientation/religion is discrimination/racism in some shape or form.
