The drama never ends for the Lakers.

---

Lakers forward/center Pau Gasol was forced from action with a right foot injury during the fourth quarter of a 92-83 win over the Nets at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Tuesday. The Lakers announced that Gasol suffered a strain of the plantar fasciitis in his right foot and said he would undergo an MRI on Wednesday. Gasol departed the arena on crutches.

Gasol initially attempted to walk off the injury but eventually departed for the locker room with the Lakers’ training staff. He did not return to the game. He finished with 15 points (on six-for-16 shooting), four rebounds and two blocks in 34 minutes.

ESPNLA.com reported that Gasol said he “felt a pop” and that he is “worried” about the injury. The Orange County Register reported that one possible source of the “pop” could be a rupture of the plantar fascia, which could potentially sideline Gasol for more than a month. CBSSports.com reported that Lakers guard Kobe Bryant said he was “very, very concerned, to say the least,” about Gasol’s injury.

Plantar Fasciitis is a bitch from what I recall when I incurred it's wrath in high school. Pediatrist told me only thing that would heal it is rest and in Pau's case (if it's not ruptured) this will most likely bothering him all year and be in and out of games periodically. If it is ruptured (he heard a pop), which I've never experienced, he's screwed and thus we're screwed.

I can still recall a year after I thought I was past my injury I was just going under the bar when I was bartending, got on the balls of my foot, felt the arch rip and immediately get sore. It'll never go away, just like a rolled ankle, you used your goddamn feet everyday. GAHHHH why Pau WHY!!!!

I was watching the game, and the thing is it didn't look that bad when it happened, but it's never good when the player hears a pop. Unless Grant can find a suitable team willing to give up a lightly protected or unprotected 2014 pick for Speights, got to find a way to get Speights to the Lakers.

Shit As if it wasnt enough that the teams ahead of the Lakers cant stop winning, and now another Lakers injury smh... :banghead:

D'Antoni was never good with slow-moving centers. Maybe he can get a rhythm going for just a little bit with this motley crew...?

And it predicts that we'll receive the #16 pick in the draft from them. Not too bad! But the shitty news is both Dwight and Pau have serious injury concerns.

Pau's gonna be out for a while. Kinda blows, I really thought a trade was going to find its way to fruition with him. Now with Dwight on the mend and Pau in crutches and Boston coming up on Thursday, the only thing we can do is:

That's not correct as Utah gets the tiebreaker! That being said I have to think that Utah will move Big Al or Milsap. Favors and Kanter need to start playing bigger minutes for them.

If they both ended up 42-40, then yes. I think Hollinger may be ranking them in that table based on likelihood to make the playoffs. Keep in mind this is taken from 1000 (I think, someone correct me if I'm wrong) simulations. Just because the most likely record is the same for both teams doesn't mean they each make the playoffs equal numbers of times out of all the simulated seasons.

The Jazz are without both Mo Williams and Gordon Haywood due to injuries. Actually Mo Williams has missed more games than he's played this year for them. Add in the uncertainty in the frontcourt and a lack of shooting (Randy Foye is their best shooter) and I wouldn't be surprised if Utah plays below .500 the rest of the season. Their coach Ty Corbin doesn't seem to be the best X's and O's guy either. They've been playing uninspired ball the past few weeks and have been awful on the road the entire season.

@KBergCBS: Pau Gasol has a partial tear of his plantar fascia and is expected to be out at least six weeks...

Crap.

Well, even with Gasol out, a team of Kobe, Nash, and Dwight theoretically still has more than enough talent to get them to the playoffs if they find a groove, which they're seemingly, slowly starting to do. Let's hope that Dwight can handle the rest of the season and that the team finds ways to win at all costs. Hopefully Pau comes back and can help them even if it's only for a handful of games.

Not that big of a deal IMO. Dwight and Pau together didn't work, but one or the other will and Dwight should be back soon.

:chuckles:

These Lakers are not making the playoffs. I admire the optimism, though. Houston is smooth sailing and are gelling and geting better...Utah is looking pretty steady.

We need injuries to big guns on those two teams, but all we're getting is injuries to the Lakers.

That's what they get for connecting themselves to a Cleveland sports team....disaster.
