Utah still manages to finagle wins with Tyrone Corbin as their coach. Let's put that in perspective: Check out the Jazz's final DRAWN UP play from tonight's game against Sactown.

It was a brutal ending, but counting on the Kings for wins is never a recipe for success. On the bright side, later this week the Jazz play at Sacramento, where the Kings have been more productive.

Utah has some challenging games the next couple weeks. It's really up to the Lakers to grab road wins.

If one of Al Jefferson or Paul Millsap are moved by the deadline, then that might seal the deal with the Lakers making the playoffs or at least the Jazz not making the playoffs.

Lakers get their 2nd road win against an opponent with a winning record (they also beat the Warriors in OT). Without Howard, Artest, and for the last part of the game Gasol. Big victory for us, I mean them, I mean us.

More than anything, I was impressed by the morale on the bench. All those young guys were really into it. Nash looked younger than usual tonight. Young guys contributed. Smith and Webber were laughing about how D'Antoni finally has the team he wants (without a gimpy Howard, an old Artest, and a slow Gasol to hold them back).

A large section of the crowd also chanted MVP at the end....for Kobe. Among other things, he had a tremendous dunk down the stretch at a critical moment. Brooklyn fans deserve it for scalping their tickets. :chuckles:

The most encouraging thing about this win is that it's against a winning team on the road on top of the fact that all of those guys were out. Perhaps they can gain some confidence off of this and that this is a sign of a greater sense of urgency/chemistry.

The Lakers making the playoffs for us will be invaluable. This isn't exact, but, if the Lakers make the playoffs, the swap could be about equal value to around the 20th pick in the draft if they're picking 16th and the Heat are picking 26th. I'd say about 20 and 26 are worth 16. It's certainly a valuable asset. If we do end up getting to do the swap, we could look at the Sessions trade as trading sessions for the a 2012 #24 pick and a 2013 #20 pick (in value because of the swap). But that's just my gorilla math tanking.

Can't we just think of it as allowing to move up (likely) 11 picks, from 27 to 16?

Gasol said he heard something pop in his foot and he is concerned about it. Not good.

The Lakers are still 4 games out of the playoffs, but if they can keep winning, they'll start making up ground.

The drama never ends for the Lakers.

---

Lakers forward/center Pau Gasol was forced from action with a right foot injury during the fourth quarter of a 92-83 win over the Nets at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Tuesday. The Lakers announced that Gasol suffered a strain of the plantar fasciitis in his right foot and said he would undergo an MRI on Wednesday. Gasol departed the arena on crutches.

Gasol initially attempted to walk off the injury but eventually departed for the locker room with the Lakers’ training staff. He did not return to the game. He finished with 15 points (on six-for-16 shooting), four rebounds and two blocks in 34 minutes.

ESPNLA.com reported that Gasol said he “felt a pop” and that he is “worried” about the injury. The Orange County Register reported that one possible source of the “pop” could be a rupture of the plantar fascia, which could potentially sideline Gasol for more than a month. CBSSports.com reported that Lakers guard Kobe Bryant said he was “very, very concerned, to say the least,” about Gasol’s injury.

I think more teams should do lottery protected/lottery guaranteed swap trades. It makes an entire fanbase follow the plight of another team as they fight for the playoffs. It's an interesting dynamic.
