Training Camp 2015

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And to think that, three years ago, our entire roster was completely filled with nobodies like this. :chuckle:

Don't remind me of him. I still can't believe the team devoted three seasons to "developing" this guy. He never played another NBA game after his Cavs' career. The Cavs should have gone through more players during the 4 rebuilding years in an effort to find at least a couple of keepers. Incredibly, the only one they managed to discover was Dellavedova, and that wasn't till year 4 of the rebuild.

Cavs have invited Nick Minnerath to training camp:

Also, buried in this Haynes' article is the following tidbit:

He will join Quinn Cook, Jared Cunningham and D.J. Stephens as roster hopefuls. Jerrelle Benimon was originally expected to be in camp, but recently decided to play in China.

This is hardly surprising.

Haynes then asserts this:

An NBA team can bring up to 20 players to camp. Cleveland will have 14 guaranteed contracts on its roster.

I think his claim that they will carry 14 players is pretty widely acknowledged, at least on RCF, though Haynes doesn't cite a source.

I liked what I saw out of Cooley in the past two Summer Leagues. He is a hard-nosed PF/C who will rebound and shoot from mid-range. This is a sign the franchise won't rush into a deal with Tristan for a minor injury, like if Varejao twists an ankle or Moz needs to rest his knee.

Cooley has already proven more in his career than Harris or Cunningham, who are replacable.

I'm all for getting rid of Harris.. trust me, he is dead weight

Jack Cooley is like a poor mans David Lee combined with a really really homeless version of Kevin Love pre model era

I like it.

Tristan is not officially on the team. That means he's not occupying a roster spot at the moment, right?

I like how the team management is thinking here. Prevent the "Big Man Injury Crisis"/"Big Man Shortage" before it happens by bringing in some insurance.

Very nice.

I am thinking cunningham keeps his spot on the non guranteed contract until shump is healthy, or atleast Kyrie and Cooley sticks around until Tristan signs.
