To me this is good news. How did we get a player that was playing for the Jazz just a few days ago though? Does this mean we actually offered him guaranteed money to sign with us? Did we have to give the Jazz anything in compensation?

His college and D League rebounding stats look good.

Look, here's the facts:

Kevin Love and Anderson Varejao - Coming off a serious injury, we need to keep the miles low.

James Jones - The guy playing big minutes all preseason, he is also an older veteran.

Tristan Thompson - Still not recovered from an inflated ego and cerebral cortex hysterectomy, hasn't played at all.

Let a young guy eat up some preseason minutes, maybe he proves he deserves the spot over Harris.

I don't think anyone is questioning the need for another legitimate big. I'm talking the regular season, not just the last two preseason games.

Once Cooley became available, he became a decent option. He's a guy who has proved to be able to play at a high level in the D League, and is one of those guys that NBA followers were wondering if he could latch on with a team. Not sure he qualifies as legitimate, but clearly he's closer than anyone else they have in camp.

Still will be watching the list of players waived in the next week.
