Associated Press

COLUMBIA, S.C. — A hospital spokeswoman says former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker and a popular club disc jockey have been critically injured in a Learjet crash in South Carolina that killed four people.

Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. She says the plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.

Hospital spokeswoman Beth Frits says Barker and DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, were at a burn center in Augusta, Ga.

Federal officials say two crew members and two passengers have been killed.

Geez, here is to hoping that he is alright. Not a fan of his music but he seems to be a real cool guy.

I learned about burn in Anatomy class last semester and from what I've been reading, it doesn't sound good at all. Even if they say the burns are 20%, that percentage is really bad. I don't know why I'm so freaked out about this, but I'm praying for them.

Heres more details.....

Do you hate cars? Chance of dying in a car are 1 in 5,000. Chance of dying in a plane are 1 in 11,000,000.

Damn damn.... their music was just about to blow up too. Travis was on the verge to start something new and refreshing with hip-hop and rock. I hope they are ok, and I pray that they survive.

Well obviously, but some people just feel their chances of surviving on the ground is much greater than plummeting out of the sky with little to no chance for survival..

Airplane crashes make headlines, but car crashes are much much more common. It is definetely more dangerous to drive than fly. Facts are facts. My wife used to work in an E.R. and its crazy the amount of young people she saw on a daily basis come in with critcal and fatal injuries. Cars, guns, motorcycle, etc....

You have control in a car, you don't have control in the air. You are a done deal if you wreck in a plane, to where atleast you have an opportunity in a car.

That is an illusion. You don't have control even in a car going 45+ mph.

Also, this story shows how you can survive a plane crash.

You might have control over your car, but what about the other car? I've been on a plane at least 8 times a year since i was 3(I have been going back to Kuwait from Toronto twice a year and it takes 2 planes one way) and I have never been scared. I am 19 now so that means that I have been on a plane 128 times for just going to Kuwait. I have als had a bunch of vacations to Europe, India, Greece and such. So lets just say I've flown 150 times in my life. That's a lot right? Think about how many times you have been in a car. m petty sure its way more than that. Its easy to see that there is a higher chance to be in a car crash just because you drive more than you fly.

Speaking as a private pilot, I can assure you general aviation is wayyyyyy safer than driving a car. Not even close.

You are way more likely to be killed driving to work than you are stepping on a plane.

This is horrible, i found out about this earlier but didnt know the details. Seeing and hearing everything in that video is very disturbing and i will definitely keep them in my prayers...

I haven't seen any statistics or anything but of the plane crashes you do hear about, it seems like they are primarily private. A lot of Cessna's and Learjet's. It's just so rare that a commercial airline has a crash.
