I watched the press conference. Zimmerman is going off the deep end. He personally called the special prosecutors office and they wouldn't speak to him. The lawyers mentioned major weight loss and possible mental breakdown. I've never been hated by the whole country and had to hide so I can't even possibly put myself in his shoes but I would venture to say it sucks. If they are going to arrest this man, they should just do it and get it over with.

I believe it has to go to a grand jury for murder.

It's probably going to be manslaughter or nothing at all.

Just Murder 1, and I still am not convinced this is Murder, its manslaughter imo.

some people are more disconnected from remorse than others. if i knew how to break into the business, I could be a good hitman. until then, its just counterfitting money and answering craigslist ads.

I can always be wrong, but I've explained before that in most situations which involve the use of a gun and the intentional firing of that gun at another human being, it's very hard to get down to manslaughter. The reason is because everytime you fire a gun at a person you most likely intended to kill them. And even if you didn't, good luck convincing a jury you didn't. And as soon as you intend to kill a person and do kill a person, you are subject to murder charge.

The only way he gets down to manslaughter is if he strikes a deal or if he shows provocation on the part of Martin. The idea there being that someone provoked you to the point that you lost self-control and therefore did not have the requisite mental state needed for a murder charge. However, just based on the initial information we have, it would seem that Zimmerman, not Martin, is the original provocateur. And normally the person who starts the altercation is not afforded a mitigation defense (nor is he normally afforded a self-defense either).

That said, it could very well turn out that all Zimmerman did was follow him and that Martin took it to whole other level by attacking him, in which case Zimmerman has a valid self-defense claim. However, this leads to a basic problem he's probably going to face. That is, if he can't win on a self-defense claim due to the jury believing he, not Martin, started the confrontation, then it's real hard for him to get his charge reduced to manslaughter by claiming provocation.

EDIT: And after all of that, I do think Zimmerman ultimately has a valid self-defense claim. If Martin was indeed the one who started the actual fight and was indeed pounding his head into the pavement, Zimmerman has a strong claim. But make no mistake, he still intended to shoot, and normally when one intends to shoot one intends to kill, which makes it hard to get to a charge of manslaughter.

Haha, you are so full of shit. Anybody can say they could shoot a person, but when you aim the gun, I am 100% sure you wouldn't pull the trigger. I also highly doubt you counterfeit money. You keep watching your gore videos and think you could take another persons life though...

78-Year-Old Dallas Watts Attacked, “Get that White Man! This is for Trayvon!”
In East Toledo, six teens attacked 78-year-old Dallas Watts on his way home from the store with pork rinds for his dogs on Saturday. The man was minding his own business when attacked by a bunch of kids for no apparent reason, other than the color of his skin. Mr. Watts said that one of the youths pointed at him and said, "take him down", when Watts responded, "Why you picking on me? Remember Trayvon. Why you picking on me?""

One of the 6 boys, ranging from 11 to 17, hit Watts in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground. The victim then was lifted back up, so he could be "drop-kicked" in the chest. One boy shouted "Kill him" while another held him to the ground while putting his shoe on Watts' neck. The Toledo Blade reported that as Mr. Watts was laying on the ground, "the boys kicked him, over and over, shouting, "[Get] that white [man]. This is for Trayvon ... Trayvon lives, white [man]. Kill that white [man]," according to a police report." The kids finally fled when a man started shouting at them.

Regarding the Trayvon remarks, Mr. Watts said, "All I meant by saying 'remember Trayvon' is to remember what happened to him, don't duplicate it here." The article states that it is unclear who started the verbal confrontation, but it seems obvious that these kids were looking for trouble.

These thugs were no stranger to crime, one of them "faces a felonious assault charge from an unrelated shooting", and two others were charged with robbery, a 17 and 11-year-old. Where are the charges for assault? The incident occurred shortly after a rally for the Martin family.

Dallas Watts would not even allow his children to play with toy guns while they were growing up, but now the elderly man intends to buy one for himself. "What happened to me ... down here on the corner, that changed my perspective on humanity," Mr. Watts said.

Remember, I before E except after C, or when sounding like weigh, as in deceit or counterfeit.
